Is The Doll, Mandy, Haunted?

The video below is from You tube which has quite a selection about Haunted Dolls. Here from Stephen Wagner's about Paranormal is the story about Mandy.

"Mandy the haunted doll is over 90 yrs old. Her history before she found her way to the Quesnel Museum is a mystery. The museum is located on the Old Cariboo Gold Rush Trail, in British Columbia. The only information I can find about her previous owner/s, is that the woman who donated the old doll to the museum complained that she was frequently woken up at night by the sound of a baby crying. She always found that it was coming from the room where the doll was kept. After the doll was donated the crying stopped.

Obviously, being 90 yrs old, the doll has been through a lot. Her face is cracked, her body ripped and her clothes threadbare and dirty. All this doesn’t help the dolls creepy factor.
Staff and visitor alike tell tales of odd things occurring with the doll. Some include the doll mysteriously facing the wrong direction in her case, others state that her facial expression changed. The staff moved her to a case of her own when they learned that she doesn’t like other dolls and would destroy them.

Since Mandy’s arrival, things around the museum have been mysteriously disappearing. Everything from office supplies and personal items to the staffs lunches from the refrigerator. The lunches are often found in drawers or cupboards. The other items are sometimes found, but often time they are never seen again.

Visitors have reported that her eyes move, like they re following them as they move about the museum. Others have said that they have seen her blink. Often times people who come to take pictures or video of Mandy find that their cameras will not work while trying to film her, but when shooting a different area exhibit the camera works perfectly."

Haunted Dolls Never Sleep

This is yet another Haunted Doll Story..
"...This story was brought to mind by Gralien Report correspondent Chris McCullom, who today sent along yet another strange story pertaining to a haunted doll. In an article appearing at the CNN website (originally from Oprah.com), the strange story of “Jessica Lynn Cohen” is recounted, better known by her familial moniker “the Christmas Zombie Doll.” The author tells the story of how his daughter received the doll as a gift on Christmas day. Removing the wrapping, he says she “immediately and inexplicably christen(ed) the doll Jessica Lynn Cohen. Why that oddly specific appellation, with its country-western triple cadence, we’ll never know. It was Christmas, and it was her doll, and it stuck.” Was this a peculiar instance of telemetry, where the young girl somehow “read” information off the doll, or perhaps even a lingering spirit which lay at hand, hovering in the astral?

The actual source for the title is less enigmatic, as this was also the name of an actress who appeared in George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker” film starring actor Macaulay Culkin. The film was first released in 1993, and the author in the CNN piece mentions that the three-foot-tall Beelzebub Barbie was purchased about a decade ago (around 1999). Though this still presents a reasonable gap, it seems likely that the film would have been present and popular enough for his young daughter to have made the obvious Christmas-time association with the actress. Though unconventional, “Jessica Lynn Cohen” is actually a very fitting name for the demonic death doll.

But all name games aside, it’s what occurred after the toy’s titling that made it infamous; as time went on, the author’s daughter gets older, and the “cooling off” period occurs. “I’d go downstairs to attend to a blown fuse and there’d be Jessica Lynn Cohen in the boiler room,” he says. “We’d find her in the pantry with her arms outstretched in a sort of pious Joan of Arc gesture of supplication or in the bathroom with one leg raised high over her head like a Folies Bergère dancer. Coming upon her this way could be frightening. She had taken on the stricken phantasmal look of a ghost from a shipwreck.”

If this weren’t creepy enough, upon trying to rid themselves of the doll they began to succumb to bad luck, including health and financial problems. “We eventually had to reach an accommodation with Jessica Lynn Cohen and accept her as a permanent member of our family.”

Is there indeed some strange psychic property that affixes itself to inanimate objects, especially those with more anthropomorphic features? It’s a strange notion indeed, almost like the ancient Kabbalistic traditions that involve the creations of “golems” or non-human “robots.” It also brings to mind “noisy spirits” and poltergeist activity.

My, it’s strange the way that some humans haunt themselves!

Special thanks to Christopher McCollum for contributing to this report.

Rudy's Story Of The Haunting Doll

When Dr Warren was home the summer between his second and third years at UVA Medical School a very peculiar thing happened to his Sister.
She collected dolls and had since they both were small children. She brought home with her a "new" addition to her collection. It was an antique doll with a china head and kid leather body dressed in a long white Christening gown with a matching bonnet. The dress and cap were trimmed with handmade lace,a bit of white ribbon was tucked around the edges. She had little black leather boots. All the stitching had been done by hand.
His Sister was quite delighted with her.She had bought the doll at an Estate sale in the Georgetown area near the University where she was a junior.

Rudy who later turned out to be a sensitive, had a gut reaction of intense dislike for the doll."It was a terrible feeling.",he said.."I didn't know what to say.I just could not stand to look at the thing."His mother and sister ignored his comments about the bad feelings and continued to talk about what the doll's life must have been like, the beauty of the stitching and where in the room for the collection she would look best.

Two nights later, the family was awakened by a series of loud thumping sounds coming from the room where the collection was on display. All of the family rushed to the room and saw nothing. This happened twice more that night and for the next three nights. Then the lights started flickering on and off as well.By the end of the week the door was slamming. They were all edgy by this time even the older Dr.Warren.
Rudy's claim that it must be the doll did not seem so amusing.By the middle of the next week as the hall lights were now flicking and the thumping was even louder, hid father said"Damm it I have a case in the morning.Get rid of that doll."
His sister gave it to a cousin.
Within a week, the cousin's husband had burned the beautiful little doll because of all the thumps and flickering lights in their house.Their rocking chair was also rocking wildly.
We will never know what was involved but it sounds as if the doll was haunting both houses.
