Shadow People

You looked up quickly this time and saw the fleeting but distinctly human shape of the shadow pass quickly over the far wall... and disappear.

What was that? Some natural shadow? Your heightened imagination? A ghost? Or was it something that seems to be a spreading phenomenon - apparitions that are coming to be known as "shadow people" or "shadow beings." Perhaps this is an old phenomenon with a new name that is now being discussed more openly, in part thanks to the Internet. Or maybe it's a phenomenon that, for some reason, is manifesting with greater frequency and intensity now.

Those who are experiencing and studying the shadow people phenomenon say that these entities almost always used to be seen out of the corner of the eye and very briefly. But more and more, people are beginning to see them straight on and for longer periods of time. Some experiencers testify that they have even seen eyes, usually red, on these shadow beings.

The mysterious sightings have become a hot topic of conversion in paranormal chat rooms, message boards and websites, and it is given widespread attention on paranormal talk radio.

What are shadow people and where do they come from? Several theories have been offered.

THE IMAGINATION

The explanation we get from skeptics and mainstream science - and who are usually people who have never experienced the shadow people phenomenon - is that it is nothing more than the active human imagination. It's our minds playing tricks on us... our eyes seeing things in a fraction of a second that aren't really there - illusions... real shadows caused by passing auto headlights, or some similar explanation. And without a doubt, these explanations probably can account for some if not many experiences. The human eye and mind are easily fooled. But can they account for all cases?

GHOSTS

To call these entities ghosts demands first a definition of what we mean by ghosts. (See the article: Ghosts: What Are They?) But by almost any definition, shadow people are somewhat different than ghost phenomena. Whereas ghost apparitions are almost always a misty white, vaporish or have a decidedly human form and appearance (very often with discernable "clothing"), shadow beings are much darker and more shadow-like. In general, although the shadow people often do have a human outline or shape, because they are dark, the details of their appearance is lacking. This is in contrast to many ghost sightings in which the witness can describe the ghost's facial features, style of clothing and other details. The one detail most often noted in some shadow being sightings are their glowing red eyes.

DEMONS OR OTHER SPIRIT ENTITIES

The dark countenance and malevolent feelings that are often reported in association with these creatures has led some researchers to speculate that they may be demonic in nature. If they are demons, we have to wonder what their purpose or intent is in letting themselves be seen in this manner. Is it merely to frighten?

Japan's post-disaster reconstruction efforts hindered – by ghosts

Numerous reports of ghost sightings have reportedly been made by residents in the city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture, home to nearly a fifth of all tsunami fatalities.

Reconstruction and repair have been put on hold in some instances due to workers' fears that the spirits of the dead who passed away a year ago will bring them bad luck if they continue, according to AFP.

Highlighting one half-repaired supermarket, local Satoshi Abe, 64, told the agency: "I heard people working to repair the store became sick because of ghosts. People died here everywhere, here and there. The city is full of such stories."

A taxi driver, who did not want to be named, added that he was unwilling to stop in certain parts of the city that were badly damaged in the tsunami for fear of picking up a customer who is a spirit of the dead.
Meanwhile, another local woman described hearing stories of people seeing queues of people rushing towards the hills, a replay of their final moment as they attempted to escape the tsunami, according to AFP.

As the first anniversary of the disaster approaches, Ishinomaki appears, on the surface at least, to be returning to a new level of normality, with the tsunami debris cleared away in most areas and a growing number of businesses reopening.

At the same time, the emotional impact of the massive losses of human life are clearly continuing to take their toll on residents: close to 4,000 Ishinomaki locals were killed in the tsunami out of a total death toll of 19,000 for the northeast region.

However, experts described the city's apparent widespread belief in ghosts as a "natural" side effect of a large-scale tragedy which wiped out vast swathes of the community and a potentially positive part of the healing process.

"Human beings find it very difficult to accept death, whether they are inclined by nature to superstition or are very scientifically minded," said Takeo Funabiki, a cultural anthropologist.

"A sudden or abnormal death, anything other than someone dying in bed of old age,

is particularly difficult for people to comprehend.

"When there are things that many people find difficult to accept, they can find expression in the form of rumours or rituals for the dead, among other things. The point is that it takes the shape of something that you can share with other people in your society."

Spirit Communications & the Afterlife:

Based on his communications, he's found certain commonalities when people crossover-- there's no pain when a spirit leaves the body, they are aware of being outside the body, and are greeted by loved ones who have already passed over. The deceased appear solid, but are vibrating in a higher frequency dimension, and often choose to represent themselves at a younger age than when they died, he continued.
\When spirits first pass over they enter the astral world, where they encounter lakes, gardens, and houses, said Van Praagh, adding that colors are more vivid, there's no nighttime, and everything a person could want is there. However, this rean, and eventually spirits move on to a higher level, he explained. Many of the communications he's received from spirits have to do with love and fear, and regrets over choices they made while alive. "I should have told my family I loved them; I shouldn't have done that; I should have believed in myself more," are typical of spirits' laments.

He also addressed why the scientific community continues to dismiss evidence for life after death. Science has been unable to measure phenomena outside the physical realm, yet quantum physics is getting closer to quantifying consciousness and what was previously unseen, and Van Praagh believes scientific views are beginning to change. To communicate with the deceased, he suggested developing a meditation practice, which can make the mind more receptive, and also being open to receiving messages in the dream state

Ghost Phobia?

Spectrophobia - The Fear of Spectres or Ghosts

Spectrophobia is a specific phobia that involves an intense fear of ghosts and aspirations known as specters. Most adults will admit to being a bit afraid of ghosts, but people with spectrophobia feel that ghosts and specters are powerful black magic phantoms who can steal souls and even lives. Like most phobias, people who suffer from spectrophobia usually have experienced some sort of mental or physical trauma in their life. This experience then becomes associated with specters, ghosts, or apparitions. The symptoms of this phobia can range from a mild uncomfortable feeling to full blown anxiety or panic attacks. It is a rare disorder that is usually self-diagnosed, as the individual realizes the fear is interfering with their ability to function. Some treatments include traditional talk therapy, self-help techniques, exposure therapy, support groups, and various relaxation techniques.

Thoughtful Ghost Guest Wears A Top Hat?

An interesting story.Read the entire account at:
http://news.ca.msn.com/local/newfoundland/ghostly-image-shocks-st-johns-wedding-guests

"People at a wedding reception at the Newman Wine Vaults in St. John's believe they caught an image of an uninvited and otherworldly guest.

Newlyweds Matt White and Danielle Hann said one of their friends was shocked by the digital image she took at the June 18 event.

"Karen [Hanlon] was staring at this camera and she came running out with the camera saying, 'Look what I just took! Look what I just took! There's somebody in the picture," said White.

"Somehow it's not as creepy in the daylight," said White.

But it still makes Hann uneasy.

"I don't know, it's still creepy," she said.
On the right-hand side of the photograph, some see a figure that rs wearing a white top hat...

"It is one of those places that continually generates new ghost stories. So, this is part of that tradition for the space," said Jarvis, who has collected many St. John's ghost stories...
the history of the wine vault is unclear...

It's(the wine vault) believed to have been built in the early 19th century, and was used by the English mercantile firm Newman and Company to age port wine from Portugal in St. John's – a tradition that began in the late 17th century and continued until the late 19th century..."

Enduring Love

Mr. and Mrs. S were residents of the Nursing Care Unit in a Retirement Center in Hawaii. They had lined there several years and both were in their middle 80's.

Apparently their family were all on the Mainland as no one had visited them in several years. The administrator remembered that about two years previously they had receieved two visits from a member of The Unitarian Church which they had attended for many years. Those were the only visitors anyone knew of for the past five years since the couple moved from their apartment down to the Unit.
They were the only couple on the Nursing Unit and a favorite of rhe staff. The two were very close and seldom talked about their past.

Mr.S had a severe stroke early one morning and died within hours. All arrangements had been previously made, leaving Mrs S no details to have to deal with in her devastated grieving.Only the staff and other residents joined the Minister for the Memorial Service.

As is often true in such situations, within a few months of her husband"s death,Mrs.S became critically ill.

A temporary nurse "new" to the staff was the night Charge nurse who along with a female and male LPN staff "regulars" comprised ths Night Shift staff..The nurse was preparing IV fluids and meds to be administered to Mrs.S when the elderly gentleman who had been at her bedside came into the hall amd said "That will not be necessary. We are leaving now."

"What do you mean?"said the nurse."She is a very sick woman." as she started toward the room.
The man disapeared.

Al , one of the LPN's had entered the hall from another room where he had been working. He said "I just saw Mr.and Mrs.S in the hall with a bright light around them and they vanished!"

When they entered Mrs.S's room they found she had died. No one else had seen the man at her bedside that night.

We considered it a wonderful love story. The temp RN however never worked there again.

"Ghost To Ghost" from C2C

From today;s coast To Coast AM Newsletter.

Weekend Edition November 1, 2010 coasttocoastam.com Coast Insider Audio

Ghost to Ghost 2010:

Art Bell hosted Ghost to Ghost AM in which he opened the lines to listeners to share their tales of ghostly encounters. A number of callers reported interactions with strange entities -- Brian of California saw a being that grew in size, and had a face like a Punch doll, while a caller to the Wild Card line said he witnessed the ghost of a rain-coated girl, who was later seen moving in slow motion. Another listener described a childhood memory of seeing a man in a Santa suit fall down a well in Vallejo, CA. Later he saw a vision of the man floating over his bed telling him to go downstairs to get his Christmas presents. According to the caller's father, it was unknown where several gifts came from, including an old wooden handmade train.

Greg from Chicago talked about his recent project of photographing the locations where people were murdered, and said at one of the spots "a really weird ghostly...image stain" appeared on his film. Maggie from Arkansas shared an intriguing account of how her deceased best friend made warnings from beyond the grave about her new boyfriend-- she literally heard him making remarks about him in her ear. Subsequently, she found out his warnings were true, and dropped the boyfriend.

Delbert, a trucker driving through Amarillo, told of how his wife's sister died in a car accident. Later, he and his wife were taking care of the sister's three year-old son at their home in Nebraska, when the door of the room suddenly closed and the temperature "dropped so cold you could see your breath." The boy said 'Hi Mommy,' and seemed to be listening to her. He then said 'OK Mommy,' and then 'Bye Mommy.' After that, the door swung back open, and the room warmed up "like nothing ever happened."

The Nature Of Ghosts

On Coast to Coast A"M paranormal researcher David Pitkin discussed how spirits and ghosts are not scary, powerful forces but a natural part of our transition from the earthly plane to the spirit world. Based on his research, Pitkin speculated that around 80 to 85% of ghost encounters are really from family members and friends who are "just a little stunned by the process of death." On why ghosts do not move on to the proverbial 'other side,' Piken offered a number of potential theories such as the possibility that the deceased does not know they are dead yet or that they have "unfinished business" with someone here in the earthly realm. "I get cranky with people who use all kinds of fear tactics and misinformation on people about ghosts," Pitkin mused, "when actually we could be helping ghosts to cross over."

Pitkin pointed out a variety of methods that appear to be used by spirits to contact their corporeal friends and family. On a personal level, he recalled one subtle instance where his late aunt, who had been dismissive of his interest in ghosts, seemingly filled his car with the scent of a specific lily that the both of them had grown. Upon the realizing what was happening, Pitkin greeted her and the smell almost instantly dissipated. He also speculated that poltergeists may not necessarily be evil spirits, but rather a deceased loved one who is trying to make an indisbutable appearance via a mischevious prank such as opening all the kitchen cabinet doors. Ultimately, Pitkin opined that these visitations are because "most people who pass over want to let at least one family member know 'hey, I've made it.'"

Was A Ghost Caught On Iapr?

It made the news in our area!
"A possible apparition has been caught on a surveillance tape at the Habitat for Humanity store in Franklin, NC. The store's alarm went off at the time the unexplained shape is seen moving on the video. Brian Irish, who works with Joshua P. Warren, analyzed the footage and has called it one of the best such "ghost" videos ever captured.

Ghosts For Sale

It has been said that you can get anything on line. This bit of news tops most..No it is not Ebay..

"A woman in New Zealand is selling what she claims are two troublesome exorcised ghosts on an internet auction website.

By Paul Chapman in Wellington
Published: 6:30AM GMT 05 Mar 2010

She claims the ghosts, one of an old man and the other a young girl, were removed from his house by a spiritualist and are now captured in vials of holy water.

Avie Woodbury, who signs herself as Melvin S from Christchurch, says on the www.trademe.co.nz website that the spirits created havoc in her house before the exorcism, switching lights on and off, turning an electric kettle on, and terrifying the dog.

"One spirit we believe is a man by the name of Les Graham, managed to track down a photo," she said on the website. "He died in the house in the 1920s.

"The other spirit came from when me and my partner stupidly did a Ouija board."

The second spirit is a little girl "who likes to move things", she said.

"Exorcist says she is very strong and if left will get stronger.

"We have had no activity since they were bottled on July 15, 2009, so I believe they are in the bottles."

She said the holy water has changed from clear to a blue colour since the spirits were bottled and "sort of puts them to sleep".

"To revive the spirit, I have been told that you pour into a little dish and let it evaporate into your house.

"I just want to get rid of them as they scare me. But someone might like these to play with."...

"The sale has turned into one of the auction website's most popular attractions, drawing more than 70,000 hits so far.

It has also provoked strong feelings from viewers, with one describing him as "absolutely sick" for selling someone's family members.

Another warned her that she risked eternal damnation.
...One prospective buyer asks what would happen if he poured the contents into a shot glass and drank them.

"I don't know but you might have friends for life," she replied. "Multiple personalities might haunt you." One prospective buyer asks what would happen if he poured the contents into a shot glass and drank them.

"I don't know but you might have friends for life," she replied. "Multiple personalities might haunt you."

Another viewer wants to know if the "beverages" contain any dangerous additives.

But the most sardonic comment comes from the person who says: "I have two spirits in bottles at home.

"I think they are called Jim Beam and the other is Johnny Walker."

Reporter Scared On Ghost Hunt

Groups generally have a protection ritual or prayer before beginning to investigate,Sounds as if shr missed it.Seriously, this can be a dangerous job.

"I AM scared - I think I've let a ghost into my own home.

Having spent days investigating all things ghostly, dozens of haunting tales have flooded in.

But here is one of my own - involving blackouts, creatures in my bed and my once-adoring cat too spooked to come near me.

It began when two ghostly children mysteriously appeared in the background of a photo of Picton cemetery sent to The Daily Telegraph.

Since Tuesday my work days have been a blur of mist, mysterious figures, orbs and the question of what, if anything, is out there. So it was a relief to be heading home for a night in.

But there was to be no relaxing in front of the TV as my house was plunged into darkness moments before I arrived. At first I thought it was a routine blackout - only to soon find out it had affected only a handful of the more than 60 houses in the street.

*
It was strange coincidence but a night with no electricity gave me a chance to imagine what life was like circa 1886, the same year 11-year-old Blanche Moon died at Picton.

Three hours later and the lights were restored so I headed for bed. But hopes of slumber were ended after a nasty eight-legged creature ran across my pillow. Nothing like a spider to wake you up faster than three shots of coffee.

After these few strange instances, I was ready for a few cuddles from my cat. My 13-year-old cat Dilly is usually only too willing to rub against my legs.

But not that night. In fact, ever since the first story about the Picton ghosts appeared, my once faithful feline won't have anything to do with me.

He bounds away with a wild and terrified look in his eyes.

His fear is akin to someone who's just seen a ghost"

The picture is of Amy Dale the reporter and her cat. Thanks for the story.

Old Folsom Prision Considered Haunted

Historic Folsom Prison
Prison guards stand watch over the dining hall at Folsom Prison in this 1892 photograph published in "Images of American: Folsom Prison" penned by Jim Brown. The guards used metal-tipped canes to help keep inmates in line, according to the book. Ghosts may haunt catwalks and corridors of Folsom State Prison. At least according to James Brown, operations manager for the prison’s museum. Brown is also a retired corrections officer, having worked many years at the prison, and author of “Images of America: Folsom Prison.” While he’s never seen a ghost while working at the prison, Brown says that he believes in them..

Haunted Hearse

In Texas at a San Antonia Cultural Museum is a beautifully curtained glass sided hearse. It was used the latter part of the 1800's and some say the early 1900's as well.It was drawn by at least 4 horses.

Imagine the surprise of the night security staff when the hearse was added to the collection or for that matter, any new security staff hired.(It is often seen as a "Rite To Passage" for the new hires.)The doors at the back of the hearse open themselves throughout the night as if a body were to be removed...Only at night..and the closure is quite secure. The guard will know the doors were closed on the first check but the next time,,,,

What do you think? A restless spirit always on the move? A residual of energy from the many who rode there? Or as one guard said "Maybe a mortician just looking for business."

A South Georgia Ghost Investigation

Although TAPS and GHI have brought their Ghost Hunting to prominence on TV. there are many such investigating groups throughout the US. This is a focus on one in S GA that made news recently..There are ghosts everywhere...

" Chehaw Village along New York Road in Lee County is an unassuming picnic spot with a lot of untold history.

"The young men, the warriors from that group joined the military to help fight the United States military to help fight the Seminoles, to help bring the Seminole rebellion down," said Tripp Robbins, South Georgia Paranormal Investigator Lead Investigator.

A marker placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution only tells part of the story.

"The Georgia militia came through here and killed several of the women and children and old elders in this particular area," said Robbins.

South Georgia Paranormal Investigators want to know the whole story, so they're going to the source, so to speak.

"Mainly what our focus is is to document what's there or document what's possibly there, hopefully catch something and bring it to light," said Robbins.

There are no Ouija Boards or seance, using a camera and equipment that measures electromagnetic fields the investigation begins.

"Before every investigation we say a prayer, after every investigations we say a prayer. Every team members is a Christian, we're all God fearing individuals," said Robbins.

The crew spread out, snapping pictures and taking readings, looking for anything that isn't easily explained away.

"I took a picture out here, the last time we were here, of what looked like a wood pile, a fire pile. The first picture nothing, the second picture had what looked like an illuminant in the middle of it and we can't figure out where it came from," said Amanda Hoxsie, South Georgia Paranormal Investigators Tech Specialist.

"My flash light went completely out, her camera died, and about the same time we both got an uneasy, queasy feeling like we were both going to get sick, so we decided to walk away and as we were walking away, I physically got choked," said Michelle Williams, South Georgia Paranormal Investigator Web specialist.

Our own goose bump experience came when the group plugged in it's paranormal puck.

"It takes energy in the air and it converts it into language via a database it already has built into the software, it takes whatever it thinks its saying and turns it into words so you can read it," said Hoxsie.

It translated thousands, Indian, night, words not uncommon for this area, but then it starting reading words including video.

"News. That's the first time it said news, corn, history, see it's really beginning to pick up on things that relate to us," said Hoxsie.

Coincidence?
"Coincidence or something there? Who knows, who's to say? You can't prove it one way or the other, it's just take it how you feel," said Robbins.

Then explain the voices caught in the background of the recorders running the entire time.

"Help me, help me," said a voice.

Or increased readings from trees that are descendents of the trees that stood when the massacre occurred?

"There was a couple of areas where the meter had gone up higher than our normal reading that we couldn't debunk," said Williams. The group knows there will be skeptics.

"The easiest thing to do is tell them, you listen to the voices and you tell me, you explain what it is. If I can't, we go into a situation trying our best to explain away what it is," said Robbins.

For the South Georgia Paranormal Investigators its proof enough something exists at this site, what that is will take further investigation and more research."

Ghosts In The News

I love to find such accounts making the news.this was in May

Collapsed Cracker Factory Has Long Haunted History

Kim DeVer, manager of the old cracker factory building, had a lot on her mind after the third floor of the building collapsed - and paranormal activity wasn't far from her thoughts.

On two occasions in the past year, Brian Lavigne of Alton and the Paranormal Researchers of Southern Illinois team conducted paranormal investigations in the old factory.

The determination that DeVer observed and the preliminary conclusion by the research group is that the building displays strong paranormal activity.

The Kendall Cracker Factory was built in 1864 with deep arched vault-like recesses, once used as ovens. The factory was built on the site of Alton's First Baptist Church in 1836 and utilized at least part of the basement foundation of the early church, which burned in 1860.
or the most part, Julie believes that the ghosts that are in the building are harmless and are notorious pranksters. The changing signs and turning thermostats have been just a couple of their tricks. In addition, they have been known to turn lights on and off, hide things and to change the station on the radios that have been placed around the store. “We have three radios,” Julie explained,” but we keep them all turned to the same jazz station. On some mornings when I have come in, I will find the radios have all been set to some strange station that we would never listen to. I don’t know how this happens but it’s really bizarre.”

Around the time of this writing, Julie bought an old pie safe at an auction and had it displayed in the store. In the bottom racks, she placed three antique pie tins that she was also offering for sale. Inexplicably, when Julie comes into the store in the morning, she will often find the tins to be moved around, switched in position, turned upside-down or outside of the pie safe. There is no explanation for how they could have gotten this way and I have tried to fiddle with the rack myself (trying to get the pie tins to move) but I had no luck with it. Is this an example of Julie’s prankster ghosts at work – or a specter attached to the pie safe itself?

Julie and Sam Thames have not been the only people to experience odd happenings in the basement. Many customers who have come in, including attendees on the History & Hauntings Tours, have claimed weird encounters inside of the old bricks ovens that line one side of the store. These encounters range widely between the smell of something burning (which then vanishes), cold chills, eerie sensations and even feeling as though they have been touched or their clothing pulled on. I never tell anyone what to expect when they go into the building, but rather allow them to look around the place for themselves.

Ross DeVer, a 16-year-old Marquette Catholic student, spent the night in the building with friends. He was walking around filming when a friend heard a creak and a towel was yanked off the rack near them.

"We also walked by doors that were open and five minutes later they would be closed," he said. "We went to bed about 4 in the morning and woke up at 8 in the morning. I had a hard time getting to sleep. I was afraid I would miss something. I definitely think there are spirits inside the building. On the PRoSI visit, all the walkie-talkies started making noise and we went into the room and they were all still off. That was weird. I went on both hunts."...

Lavigne works with a partner, Rob Simmons, in PRoSI. He said his team believes Broadway in Alton is unusually active in the paranormal realm because of the area's limestone and springs.

"These materials can act as a recording device for the events, whether traumatic or festive," he said. "These types of hauntings are residual and appear when the conditions are just right."

The paranormal chaser said even if the old Kendall Cracker Factory is torn down, the spirits could still be there because of a theory called grounding....

What About The Movie?

Recently there was a discussion of the movie "A Haunting In Conn." on my favorite Coast To CoastAM radio show. The owner of the house, Mr.Bean was discussing his experiences.A quote is below..

You may have seen the program "A Haunting." Apparently the video depicts the presentation on that program.

"When people come under attack from evil, it doesn't just come up to your face and say, "Oh, here I am... We're going to kill you or destroy you!" It's a covert type thing and it's a gradual type thing, and it feeds off people's negative emotions. This is how it gains its power." --Bill Bean

Police Search...Girl Or Ghost?

Seems the English are more accepting of Ghosts than we are.A recent report:

John Teece-Millington believes he saw the ghost of a young girl walking along St Martin’s Way.
Published Date: 12 February 2009

A POLICE search operation was launched after a motorist spotted a little girl walking alone in Chester city centre.
John Teece-Millington was driving along St Martin's Way at 12.30am on Monday, February 2, when he saw the young girl walking along the pavement clutching a teddy bear.

He was so concerned for her welfare that he alerted police and seven patrols were deployed around the city.

No trace of the girl was found and Mr Teece-Millington now believes he saw a ghost.

"I was stationary for a couple of minutes waiting for the lights to change when I spotted a small girl, aged roughly about seven years old with shoulder length hair, a full fringe and large dark rimmed glasses," he said.

"She was wearing a white blouse, short pleated skirt but no coat, socks or shoes, and was clutching a teddy bear.

"She was slowly walking along the road towards the traffic lights. I rolled the window down and slowed up to her to make sure she was okay but she carried on walking without a care in the world.
"I was on my way home and was five minutes away from the nearest garage when I spotted a policeman. I reported seeing the little girl as I thought it was strange for her to be out alone at that time and it was a freezing night."

Police spokesman, Shelley Williams said a search was launched at 12.30am and police even contacted taxi drivers to be aware of a young girl possibly wandering the streets alone.

The search was suspended after no-one was found and no-one was reported missing.

Mr Teece-Millington, a caretaker at Stanley Palace and a member of Cheshire Paranormal, is appealing for anyone else to come forward who may have seen the girl.

Get In The Spirit...Dress Is Optional

Well I heard this recently...
A mediun was asked if it was true that ghosts or spirits appear in the clothing in which they were buried. He had never thought about it,he said so was asked by the host to ask his spirit guides with whom he maintains daily contact and let us know the following night. Here is his response:
" Clothing is an optional thing in the spirit world,"Psychic medium Tana Hoy said. "Whether or not spirits appear to be wearing clothes depends on their consciousness and which of the seven spiritual levels they go to when crossing over," he explained.

Humm, what do you make of that? I have never seen or heard anyone who saw a naked ghost..

Theresa's Story

Halloween is over but the ghost sightings and stories do not stop there..I was disappointed in the Coast to Coast AM Show last night. While the content was interesting the guest apparently is a much better writer than speaker. So bad that I fell asleep.

" Wow -- amazing story!

It actually reminded me of a story I haven't told or thought about in years. My aunt and uncle used to live right next to a cemetery. I remember playing there as a child when my parents visited. The house was on a street with a row of about 4 old stone-front houses with backyards with no fences, but with a few rows of corn separating the backyards from the cemetery. I remember always feeling it was a creepy place when I was a kid, yet I love cemeteries -- to this day -- as they are the most wonderful outdoor museums. Anyway, I remember family stories about the house being haunted. One story that comes to mind is the one of the fire in the kitchen.

They had swinging shutter doors that led to the kitchen. My aunt would always keep them latched to the wall - open. One night, while in bed, she heard the doors swinging, but knew she had latched them earlier. She got up and latched them again, checked around the house, and then went back to bed. A few minutes later, they were swinging again. She got up and again checked house, relatched the doors, and then went back to bed. A bit later, she heard the doors swinging again, but this time, when she got to the kitchen, the garbage had been moved to the center of the kitchen and was on fire.

How's that for creepy.

I have always wondered... was this a mischevious ghost, or was it perhaps trying to alert her to a hot ember in the garbage. My aunt and uncle both smoked, and if she had dumped an ashtray in the trash with a not quite put out cig but while cleaning up before going to bed, without the alert, it could have been disastrous."
