I have long been a fan of this icon and his early opening the field of NDS Research. He recently spoke with Coast To Coast AM:
Widely acknowledged as the world’s leading expert in the field of near-death experience, Raymond Moody M.D. reflected on his life as a researcher bridging the gap between science and the paranormal. "This is the biggest question of existence and the most important, by far," he said of the mystery surrounding life after death. Moody stressed that pronouncements about the reality of the phenomenon must be backed by strong evidence to avoid ethical quandaries. To that end, he explained that many people take great solace in the belief that life continues after death and a mistaken conclusion about the phenomenon could propel those who are mourning a lost loved one back into a profound state of grief.
Looking back on his own brush with death, Moody revealed how his struggles with the thyroid disease myxedema nearly cost him his life. The disease, he said, is so slow to develop that it went unnoticed by anyone around him including himself. While suffering from the sickness, he was "always cold, always sleepy" and was afflicted with significant memory loss as well as severe depression. Though he was diagnosed with the disease, Moody received the wrong levels of medication and eventually became so despondent that he took a massive dose of the medicine and mixed it with alcohol in the hopes of ending his suffering. Fortunately, he was saved before it was too late and observed that the experience led him to a greater understanding of people who are struggling wth depression.
On spirituality, Moody shared a remarkable story on the mysterious nature of prayer. He recalled how his house, which was build in the 1890's, was in desperate need of rewiring, but he and his wife did not know any electricians. So, they prayed for God to send them "just the right electrician." The next morning, one called them and said that their phone number had randomly come up on his beeper. The couple invited him over to the house and he inspected the potential job. Prior to leaving, the electrician revealed that his brother and mother had just died and Moody's wife suggested that the man talk to her husband about it. In response, he mentioned that a book called Life after Life had been helping him through the grieving process. Unbeknownst to the electrician, the author of that book was, of course, Raymond Moody, the very man whose home he had just visited

Spirit Communications & the Afterlife:
Based on his communications, he's found certain commonalities when people crossover-- there's no pain when a spirit leaves the body, they are aware of being outside the body, and are greeted by loved ones who have already passed over. The deceased appear solid, but are vibrating in a higher frequency dimension, and often choose to represent themselves at a younger age than when they died, he continued.
\When spirits first pass over they enter the astral world, where they encounter lakes, gardens, and houses, said Van Praagh, adding that colors are more vivid, there's no nighttime, and everything a person could want is there. However, this rean, and eventually spirits move on to a higher level, he explained. Many of the communications he's received from spirits have to do with love and fear, and regrets over choices they made while alive. "I should have told my family I loved them; I shouldn't have done that; I should have believed in myself more," are typical of spirits' laments.
He also addressed why the scientific community continues to dismiss evidence for life after death. Science has been unable to measure phenomena outside the physical realm, yet quantum physics is getting closer to quantifying consciousness and what was previously unseen, and Van Praagh believes scientific views are beginning to change. To communicate with the deceased, he suggested developing a meditation practice, which can make the mind more receptive, and also being open to receiving messages in the dream state

Links John Edwards.Gloria Vanderbilt Anderson Cooper and Marilyn

I love this story.Never knew that Anderson Cooper was Gloria Vanderbilt.s son!
"Gloria Vanderbilt reveals she was 'contacted by Marilyn Monroe' via medium
Gloria Vanderbilt has spooked her son and even a professional psychic by being 'contacted by Marilyn Monroe' - and has revealed that she believes she is psychic herself.
The actress, socialite, artist and mother of TV presenter Anderson Cooper, met with psychic John Edward who revealed that Monroe had something to tell the veteran star.
On the host's daily talk show, Anderson, Mr Cooper spoke about his and his mother's unnerving experiences of visiting the medium.
'Was the experience different than you thought it would be?' Mr Cooper asked his 87-year-old mother.
'Well, for example, that Marilyn came up was fascinating to me' the oft-troubled heiress replied.
A clearly bemused Mr Cooper then said: 'I didn't know you guys were - I didn't know you knew Marilyn Monroe.'
'Yes, I did. So she kind of came suddenly into this amazing conversation,' Ms Vanderbilt replied.
But it is medium Mr Edward's response that tellingly highlights how unusual a message from the late pop icon is. 'For me, I get some pop cultural references,' he said.
'So I was doing a reading for somebody who's not a known figure and I'm seeing Marilyn Monroe. So I would say who's Marilyn? They would say, that's my aunt. That's my grandmother. Not Marilyn Monroe. So it's kind of a little bit -- it's freaky for -- it's freaky...'
'I was a friend of hers,' explains New York local Ms Vanderbilt. 'I've always felt the whole world identifies in some way with her, which is why she's such an incredible - I mean, she's with us today, and we all have things in us that we identify with her and relate to her. And I felt very close to her for many reasons.'
Mr Cooper, for his part, sees the irony in the strange revelation. 'I find it interesting that you freaked out John Edward.'
The psychic also appeared to contact Mr Cooper's father who had a 200-acre farm in Mississippi.
Mr Cooper said that the conversation - and Mr Edward's correct knowledge of his past - 'really caught me by surprise... I don't think I ever told anybody that anywhere.'
Ms Vanderbilt, who said she is 'somewhat psychic,' is clearly at odds with her son's opinions on the subject.
The sceptical show host admitted that 'I'm still not sure I'm a believer,' although Ms Vanderbilt has a fan in the medium.
'I think we all have the [psychic] ability,' Mr Edward told the intrigued mother and doubtful son. - dailymail

News Better Not Seen

It has been common practice in most areas that the TV News Crew regularly go through an almost endless list if murder and mayhem each evening. This however must top them all...
"Live on a Florida TV broadcast of July 15, 1974, newswoman Christine Chubbock announced: "And now, in keeping with Channel 40's policy of always bringing you the latest in blood & guts, and in living color, you're going to see another first -- attempted suicide." She pulled out a revolver and shot herself in the head, dying 14 hours later at a hospital."

Another Report From A Ghost To A Celeterity!

Srrms to be happening a lot these days.Tori Spelling through john Edwards had a message,
"A year after Farrah Fawcett died, her old neighbor Tori Spelling is promoting a new book and claiming to have talked to the seventies sex symbol's ghost. Not that the two have anything to do with each other.
Spelling told Out magazine that Farrah, with some prodding from TV spirit medium John Edward, opened up from the Great Beyond to her.
"It was pretty surreal," Spelling says. "We were neighbors for years. She basically wanted me to give a message to [Fawcett's son] Redmond and to her family and she was doing these very specific call-outs for things that they would understand."
Edward is so good at conversing with the dead that he did his part over the phone.
"He offered to do a reading with me and I was hoping I would talk to my dad. I'd lost a best friend a long time ago and I was hoping he would come through. And then, all of a sudden, [he said] Farrah Fawcett's coming through," Spelling says.
Now, cynics may wonder if all of this supernatural chatting has anything to do with Spelling's ongoing promotional blitz for "Uncharted TerriTORI." But Spelling said Edward, who regularly matches up guests and ghosts on his television show "Crossing Over," makes it legit.
"If it had been some psychic that I'd walked in off the street for five bucks it would have been different," she said. "But it came through John Edward. He's a medium, so he channels people. I've been to regular psychics that turn over cards, tarot cards, and sort of read your future, that type of thing. But, with him, literally people just come to him and say things that they want the person to hear."
Spelling took the information straight to Ryan O'Neal, who recently told the "Today" show he still feels Farrah's presence in the Hollywood home the shared.
"I've actually written a letter to [her partner and actor] Ryan O'Neal and explained to him in the letter everything that happened. I said, if none of this makes sense, please don't think I'm crazy, this literally happened. I'm just passing on information but it was pretty bizarre at the time."

From A Ghost Whisperer?

I was startled and sorry to hear that CBS will not br picking up Ghost Whisperer next season. It is one of my favorite programs.
Medium James Van Praagh, a producer, discussed his encounters with spirits of the deceased, their perceptions of the Other Side, their unfinished business and regrets, and their advice for the living. In describing what happens when we die, he said people feel a sense of peace and tranquility, and they are always met by loved ones-- "no one ever dies alone." Van Praagh shared his own NDE: "there's a sense of oneness...that we do all belong...there's a universal tapestry and each one of us has a tether at the top of our head which touches that tapestry, and we're all connected."
Some spirits don't realize that they're dead, and remain in denial for a time, he explained. Many spirits have told him that their death was related to their addictions, and he advised people to deal with their addictions while on the earthly plane, so that they won't be caught up with this on the next level. In order to communicate with a deceased person while in the dream state, Van Praagh suggested that before going to sleep, ask that person to show up. "Send out that thought and let it go. And when you least suspect it, when you're not trying to control it, they will come into your dream state and you will see them."
When spirits come through to Van Praagh, they sometimes offer warnings to their loved ones about business deals or looming medical problems, he noted, adding that they have accurately foreseen the need for someone to see a doctor for a particular condition. At a demonstration at a hotel for 100 people, a man's deceased son came through to ask for help for his father who was battling alcoholism. The spirit thanked his father for putting his name on a tattoo, and the father pulled up his shirt and revealed that he did have a tattoo across his chest in Gothic letters-- "My Beloved Son, Michael."

BTW he says they hope another network will pick up the show...

After Death Communication

" Bill Guggenheim, an authority on after-death communication (ADC), discussed his thirty year journey into researching and documenting over 3,000 first hand accounts of communication with the dead, including stories from children, and instructions on inducing after-death communications. Guggenheim said he had his own instance of ADC, when a disembodied voice warned him to go check the swimming pool. He did, and found his young son on the verge of drowning and was able to save him. He believes the voice he heard was that of his own father, who passed away when he was 8 years old.
Guggenheim, who coined the term ADC, defined it as a spiritual experience when "someone is contacted directly and spontaneously" by a deceased loved one or friend. The departed seek to let the living know that they're OK, and want to help alleviate the grieving process, he explained. He described cases where children reported seeing deceased relatives-- one teenager knew names of antiquated plumbing tools that he said were told to him by his deceased grandfather, a master plumber. Another boy could recite statistics of the St. Louis Browns, a baseball team his departed Uncle played on, but was long gone.
He shared the story of Katherine Cochran, a woman who received an after-death communication from her brother-in-law during a vivid dream (dreams are a common way the dead may contact the living), and subsequently began to hear lyrics and melodies that she used to compose songs, even though she had no previous musical background.
While ADCs typically come unbidden, Guggenheim suggested that if people have a meditation practice, they will tend to be more open to intuitions."
