Read My Palm

Palm Reading

Palm reading or palmistry has been around for thousands of years as early as 3,000 BC in China it is said
.To most of us ,though it brings a picture of a brightly dressed Gypsy woman with scarves and hoop earrings offering to tell our fortune for a fee.
No one more than these
gypsies has done more to pass along the secrets of this art of palm reading. In fact the main reason is this link ,that has shrouded palmistry in secrecy, intrigue and suspicion.
This mobile group that moved about among all cultures and races has captured peoples attention. The Gypsies were at their most influential during the middle Ages.,when the Holy Roman Empire employed them as a far reaching spy network.

There are people even today that believe our characteristics and future may be determined by reading our hands.
One hand, usually the one you write with is said by most to tell your story while the other is your destiny.

Unlike many may think,it is not necessarily the lines that give the most information. In general, the lines are read last. These other aspects are included
The shape of the hand
The size of the hand
The shape and thickness of the palm
The spaces between the hands and each of the fingers.
The size, shape, length, and color in the nails.
The length of the fingers
The shape of the fingertips
The mounds,their shape,size and marks
The lines

Protecting Your Energy From Psychic Vampires

In general, you have been around a "psychic vampire".They are those persons you feel drained, sometimes nauseated or depressed after seeing or talking with on the phone. They may have no idea of the effect they are having on you.
An outstanding faculty associate used to ,when speaking of patients, refer to this as "the vacuum Cleaner syndrome" ie all energy is sucked from you.Same thing.

Although the other may not realize the effect. It is important that you learn to reserve your own energy rather than allow it to be depleted. There are several ways. One is to simply not spending time (or energy) with that person.
If this is not possible, limit the time of the visit or phone call telling them initially hoe long such as "5 minutes tops" notify them one or two minutes before the time ends and when it ends let that be known and hang up or leave.
Some more spiritually inclined say a prayer and surround themselves with white light before the encounter.

A psychic author advises dealing with it in the following manner.(My preference is the time limiting as above.)

"... This does not mean that you should accuse this person of being a vampire or say that you will not speak to him or her again because he or she is sucking off your energy. If you do, this person will think you have gone off the deep end. In that case, your problem will be solved, because he or she will probably not care to see you after that. Most people still are not open to the subtle aspects of energy, and you must keep this in mind when dealing with them.

It is easier just to correct the situation without saying a word about it. You can control whether another shares your energy or not. One of the simplest methods is to close your circuit of energy. There are currents of energy flowing through your body and around it within the auric field. You can close them down so that your energies only circulate around your own auric field and throughout your body. You prevent your energies from being drawn off from the aura, and you prevent your aura from drawing in another's energy.
fingers together so they are touching. (If you wish, you can use just your thumbs and index fingers.) This close your circuit. Your energy will not go out from you.

The next time you encounter your friend who drains you, assume this posture. Simply rest your hands casually on your lap, touch your fingers and cross your ankles. It is casual and simple, and no one will suspect you of anything. You can also do this when on the phone with such people.

If you do this, you will get some feedback through other friends as to the effects. You may hear comments such as, "You are just not as nice,' "You are not as open" as you used to be.
This has nothing to do with being mad at people. You will still be talking with them as nicely and as often as ever. What you are not doing is allowing them to take your energy! You simply are not allowing them to drain you. Because they are not getting "high" from you, they are assuming something is wrong. No one has the right to take your energy without your permission."

The idea in psychology is that you are in charge of your own feelings. No one can make you feel unless you allow it...I agree with that.As important as learning that you can not change anyone but yourself...

Aura

As previously discussed,we are surrounded by the light and color of our energy, aura. This changes from sometimes moment to moment and always as time passes.Auras vibrate to different color, sound and light frequencies. The color spectrum varies with one's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states.
One expert says: If the aura sways back and forth, the person has a chemical imbalance, due to drugs, medication, drinking, a chemical imbalance in the body.
Color can be constructive or destructive. It can stimulate or depress, repel or attract. It can even be male or female in its character. It can reflect positive or negative, and when perceived within the aura it provides a key to the personality, moods, maturity and health of the individual. It reflects physical and spiritual aspects."

Not everyone even psychics see auras but it can be learned with practice and seen in the Kirikian photography.

This can in no way discuss the complexity of what the colors represent and the various shades with meaning. The location of the color, the intensity and even the from the color takes in the auric field must be considered. An general. The colors closest to the body reflect aspects of the individual's physical condition.

Red
Red is the color of strong energy, fire and primal creative force. It is the life-promoting energy. It is hot. It can indicate strong passion, mind and will. It is a dynamic color that can reflect anger, love, hate and unexpected changes. It can indicate new birth and transmutation.
It is a color that affects the circulatory system of the body, the reproductive system (sexual energy) and an awakening of latent abilities and talents.

Orange

Orange is the color of warmth, creativity and emotions. It is an indication of courage, joy and socialness. It is a color which can reflect an opening of new awareness.

Yellow
Yellow is one of the first and the easiest aura colors to be seen. Pale yellow around the hairline can indicate optimism. Yellow is the color of mental activity and new sunshine. It can reflect new learning opportunities, lightness, wisdom and intellect. The more pastel shades often reflect wisdom and intellect. The more pastel shades often reflect an enthusiasm for something.

Green
Green is the color of sensitivity and growing compassion. It reflects growth, sympathy and calm. It can reflect a person who is reliable, dependable and open-minded. Bright green moving toward the blue spectrum in the aura indicate healing ability. It is a color of abundance, strength and friendliness.

Blue
Blue, next to yellow, is one of the easiest colors to see in the aura. It is the color of calm and quietness. It reflects devotion, truth and seriousness.
The lighter shades of blue reflect an active imagination and good intuition. The deeper shades of blue can indicate a sense of loneliness, which on one level may be a life long seeking of the Divine

Violet and Purple
Violet is the color of warmth and transmutation. It is the color for the blending of the heart and the mind, the physical with the spiritual. It reflects independence and intuition, as well as dynamic and important dream activity. It can reflect one who is searching. The purple shades often reflect an ability to handle affairs with practicality and worldliness. The paler and lighter shades of violet and purple can reflect humility and spirituality. The red-purple shades can indicate great passion strength of will. They may also reflect a need for greater individual effort.

Pink

Pink is a color of compassion, love and purity. It can reflect joy and comfort and a strong sense of companionship. When seen in the aura, it can indicate the quiet, modest type of individual, along with a love of art and beauty.

Depending on the shade of pink, it can also reflect an immaturity, especially the muddier shades. It can reflect truthfulness or a lack of it. It can also reflect times of new love and new vision.

Gold

Gold is a color that reflects dynamic spiritual energy and a true coming into one's own power. It reflects the higher energies of devotion and great inspiration. It indicates a time of revitalizing.

Brown

Brown often appears in the auric field. Although many people think of as reflecting a lack of energy or an imbalance, this is not always so. Brown is the color of the earth. When it shown itself in the aura, especially in areas above the head and around the feel, it can reflect new growth. It indicates establishing new roots and a desire to accomplish. It is a color that can reflect industry and organization.

Black
is one of the most confusing of colors in the auric spectrum. I have heard some say that, when black shows up in the aura, it is an indication of death or terrible disease. Many sayBlack is a color of protection. It is a color which can shield an individual from outside energies. When seen in the aura, it can reflect that the person is protecting himself or herself. It can also indicate that person has secrets. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as it is not taken to extremes. Black can also indicate that a new understanding of burdens and sacrifices is going to manifest.
Black can also indicate imbalances.

There are important ways to protect your self and your aura.I will mention one way to protect from those who draun your energy on Sunday.Tomorrow is a feature on 3 Etsy artists and their ghost storirs.

The Unique Touch of Egilpatr at Etsy

IN THE LIGHT, By ELEANOR GILPATRICK

This is a feature from an Etsy Artist centered about one of her pieces. You may see her work at her Etsy store. Some are included in the video.

Now retired from the faculty at Hunter College, her previous creative research, study, and teaching could give way to her first love, painting. She incorporates her travels as well.

She read about Etsy in the NY Times.but did not really expect to sell her art on line where it would not be seen in person.
However to her delight a painting sold. She is involved in Etsy and appreciates the community.

Her favorites to paint are landscapes, people caught unaware, especially children in her life. She says "But I just finished a series of 9 paintings about the war. They contrast our peaceful places at home with the terror in Iraq. The nine "In The World" pieces are on display at my website: http://www.gilpatrickart.com/gallery3_featured_series/art_gallery3.htm
and will be in my solo show in May (details are on my Etsy shop page)."Her Etsy shop is http://Egilpatr.etsy.com

When asked what were her thoughts about the supernatural,Elenor said:
"I use the concept of the spiritual, not supernatural, because supernatural has a distorted history of usage. I have gone through being an agnostic, to atheism, to a spiritual path I found that opened me up to the concept that consciousness is primary and matter secondary. That turned me upside down. Later I explored my Judaism by looking at Kabala. I have not been able to submmit to being a member of any specific group for long (organizations are so....you know...), but I know there is a spiritual reality out there, and when I open to it, it moves my life richly forward. As a scientist I know that science has not been open to looking at dimensions it cannot deal with in its old paradigm. I do not paint the themes of the supernatural; but my spirit is what drives me to celebrate beauty and love; and the awe and terror of reality."
In the Light is based on the architecture of the Mosque of the Sokollu Mehmet Pasha in Istanbul, and is a statement about inter-faith peace.

I was in Istanbul with friends on September 11, 2001. We were due to see this little gem by Sinan the next day. Still devastated, we asked to climb upstairs in the empty mosque, and each of us meditated or prayed in his/her own way.

As it happened, the three were Jewish, Christian, and Muslim; the experience was nourishing. I began to think about the way this experience made a statement about what was possible in the world.

The Christian Church of Hagia Sophia, built by Justinian when the city was Constantinople, was the model for the mosques that were built after the Ottoman conquest. Under the Ottomans, Jews were welcome and flourished, taking their architectural style for Synagogues from the local practice.

So the little mosque in the painting could have housed any of the religions, except that the location of the Mihrab would differ a few degrees from that of a sanctuary. In the painting, light streams in through the windows, and in the lower interior the symbols of the three faiths are united in the light.

Acrylic on stretched canvas. Dimensions are 30 x 26 inches; framed dimensions are 32 x 27; $900. Free shipping.

Touch The Light

Healing Light

Christians speak of "The Light" with reverence from the creation when God said in Genesis "Let there be light" through references in Psalms and to Jesus as the Light Of The World.
New agers speak of the "Healing light" and psychics of the "aura".
A special camera has been developed that actually shows the colors of the aura.I had intended to talk about that today but got side tracked by some other thoughts about healing lights.I will define aura then say more about auras on Friday.

For now. the basic idea is , as you may know , based on the idea that everything in the Universe is just a vibration. Every atom, every part of an atom, every electron, every elementary particle , even our thoughts and consciousness are just vibrations. We may define the Aura as a vibration surrounding every material object.

This definition is sufficient for the purpose of reading Auras, providing that we can train ourselves to see Aura vibration. Aura around living (conscious) objects (people, plants ...) changes with time, sometimes very quickly.Aura around non-living object (stones, crystals, water...) is essentially fixed.
These energy fields are sometimes claimed to be documented by a rare form of photograph Kirian photography was developed two decades ago and has been improved through the years.
This energy field not only goes around you, but moves within your body as well. It is not just the outside of your body that is made of electromagnetic energies, every part of your and everything your experience in third dimension.
Your aura usually consist of more than one color at a time.

It can extend out very far or remain close to the body, which occurs when the person is protecting themselves form someone or something.

So with this focus on energy vibrations as color it is then light. Our individual light.

Sunlight has been used as a treatment since the time of Ancient Greece.Hippocrates had it included in his treatment plans,

You probably also have heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).Aptly named as it is depression occurring when sunlight is limited and treated with light therapy. This was only identified in the 1990's as a clinical diagnosis.

If you are wondering what all this is leading toward,it is the thought of the remarkable healing potential of light both physical and psychologically of our own body, our spiritual essence.

Maybe our scientists are moving more toward understanding the physiological, mental and spiritual light within usand around us.

Having been out of the main readings of Medicine and health research for over a decade noe,I was startled when looking into healing light to find an article from the Medical College of Wisconsin about using light in treatment. It says
"Fans of the Star Trek television shows can recall many stirring scenes of medical officers treating patients without drugs or surgery, using instead a device the size of a cell phone that sends out light rays to "miraculously" heal wounds and cure disease before their very eyes.

Now, the use of light emitting diodes (LED) in the practice of medicine has moved well beyond science fiction and into the real world. Soldiers injured by lasers in combat, astronauts in space and children in cancer wards are already benefiting from the healing properties of near-infrared light in ways that could only be imagined a few years ago. Several research projects at the Medical College of Wisconsin are at the center of LED treatment development and the application of new technology to a wide range of injury and illness.

"The potential is quite endless," said Harry T. Whelan, MD, Medical College Bleser Professor of Neurology, Pediatrics and Hyperbaric Medicine. "I

Light emitting diodes - commonly used for clock displays and in many other electronic devices - produce near-infrared light, a form of energy just outside the visible range. Cells exposed to LED light in this range have been found to grow 150% to 200% faster than cells not given and LED "bath" because, in simple terms, the light arrays speed up the healing process by increasing energy inside the cells.

"While not all cells react to near-infrared light in the same way, Dr. Whelan and others anticipate testing LED therapy in other areas such as organ and tissue regeneration, stroke, spinal cord injury, brain tumors and Parkinson's disease.

(LED) might make the difference between a small stroke or a large stroke, or between Christopher Reeve being paralyzed for life or walking again, or between someone having a tiny little blind spot from where the laser first hit to being completely blind because of the spreading injury around the entirety of the retina. Those are the differences we'd like to make in neurology, and those things can have spin-offs beyond military combat casualty care to things like diabetic retinopathy, diabetic ulcers, other tissues that can be affected, metabolic diseases..."

I found this fascinating. Will talk more about Auras and healing another time.

Graciebird's Story Of Spirit Guests

Gracie Bird Has Spirit Guesrs

Cheryl has a shop selling Handmade products on Etsy. Her various talents in creating are shown there. Some are in the video. She says she can not remember when she was not creating."I come from a long line of amazingly talented craftswomwn she says."
See her shop
http:// graciebird.etsy.com

I asked how she came to be at Etsy, and what she most enjoys making.
"I discovered Etsy about 18 months ago while doing a Google search for a tutorial on duct tape wallets. I never made the wallet but I signed on with Etsy and put up my first listing that day.
Making jewelry is my primary passion and the one I always come back to. That said, I dabble at everything else from flameworked glass to my current obsession with toddler clothing."

When asked her thoughts about the supernatural, she said
"Other than a deep conviction that the spirit or essence of those who've gone before us remain close, I don't think much about otherworldly matters. If you were able to read the little memorial poem from my wedding pics, it kind of sums up my feelings."
I did not,but it was the story of her wedding that drew me to her along with her charmand talent,of course. Here is the wedding in her own words.

" I never thought much one way or another about such things until recently. I'm sure you are familiar with the phenomena of spirits orbs in photographs. I was married last September and when I got my wedding pics, several have what my sister swears are spirit orbs.My wedding was Sept. 15, 07 an almanac will confirm there was no full moon.
My wedding was in the courtyard or a 100+ year old church. Part of the prelude to the ceremony was my mother lighting a candle in memory of my father, my groom's mother, his God-father, his stepbrother, and a dear friend.

One photo shows three orbs- one near my mother and another near a young widowed friend of mine whose husband's memorial service was held at the same church. I have goose bumps telling you this!

I'll let you see what you think before I point out what I believe I see. On the second photo, if you are viewing on an LCD screen you may have to sort of look down on the screen. There are many more."

Thank you for telling your story.Cheryl.It is nice to know your loved ones attended your wedding.
You will enjoy visiting her shop.Nothing supernatural there just supertalented.

Ghost Ships

Mystery On The Mississippi

It's understandable how a ship could be lost in the vast, deep, and volatile oceans, but how could a ship completely disappear without a trace in a river?

In June, 1872, the S.S. Iron Mountain steamed out of Vicksburg, Mississippi with an on-deck cargo of bailed cotton and barrels of molasses. Heading up the Mississippi River toward its ultimate destination of Pittsburgh, the ship was also towing a line of barges.

Later that day, another steamship, the Iroquois Chief, found the barges floating freely downriver. The towline had been cut. The crew of the Iroquois Chief secured the barges and waited for the Iron Mountain to arrive and recover them.

But it never did. The Iron Mountain, nor any member of its crew, were ever seen again. Not one trace of a wreck or any piece of its cargo ever surfaced or floated to shore. It simply vanished.

Ghost Ship The Great Eastern

<
Another famous Ghost Ship is The Great Eastern. It's only successful venture was the part it played in laying the Trans Atlantic Cable. It was considered cursed from the beginning.

The Great Eastern was the Titanic of its day. Built in 1857, at 100,000 tons it was six times larger than any ship ever built and, like the Titanic, seemed destined for trouble.

The double hull was unique but difficult to build. Construction men fell to their death while working at deadly heights. Other gruesome accidents took the lives of other workers.Construction of such a massive ship involved millions of hand-driven rivets. An estimated 1,000 workers were hired to comprise 200 “rivet gangs” to get the job done. Because someone small had to squeeze inside the narrow space between the double hulls, young “bash boys” were hired to do this work.

These boys spent 12-hour days in the space between the hulls, enduring the deafening thunder of the riveters’ hammers. After construction was completed, some of the men working as riveters could not be found. There were rumors that they had been accidentally sealed into the hull of the ship. This was soon forgotten.

When its builders tried to launch it on January 30, 1858, it was so heavy that it jammed the launch mechanism and stopped dead.

Even though it was eventually put afloat, it lay in harbor for about a year because the money had run out to finish it. The Great Eastern was then bought by the Great Ship Company, which finished it and put it out to sea.

During its sea trials, a huge ventilator explosion killed at least one man and scalded several others with boiling water.

One month later, its builder, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, died of a stroke.

Despite its size, the cursed ship never carried a full complement of passengers, not even on its maiden voyage.
On her fourth voyage, it was badly damaged in a storm, necessitating costly repairs.

In 1862, while carrying its record number of passengers - 1,500 - it sailed over an uncharted area and tore open its bottom... saved from sinking only by its double hull.

On several occasions, a strange hammering noise of an unknown source could be heard far below decks. The crew said it could be heard even above the gale of a storm and sometimes woke sailors from their sleep.

The ship continued to lose money for its owners, but was successful in helping lay a transatlantic cable in 1865. Better ships built for the purpose soon replaced the Great Eastern, however, and for 12 years it sat rusting until it was eventually sold for scrap metal.

As it was being taken apart, the source of the ship's bad luck, perhaps (and the phantom hammering), was discovered: within the double hull was the skeleton of the master shipwright who had mysteriously disappeared during construction

The Haunted Queen Mary

One of the most famous of all cruise ships, the Queen Mary - now a hotel and tourist attraction - is said to be host to several ghosts. One may be the spirit of John Pedder, a 17-year-old crewman who was crushed to death by a watertight door in 1966 during a routine drill. Unexplained knocking has been heard around this door, and a tour guide reported that she saw a darkly dressed figure as she was leaving the area where Pedder had been killed. She saw his face and recognized that it was Pedder from his photographs. A mysterious woman in white has been sighted near the front desk. Typically, she disappears behind a pillar and does not reappear. Another ghost, dressed in blue-gray overalls and sporting a long beard, has been spotted in the shaft alley of the engine room. Ghostly voices and laughter have been heard by the ship's swimming pool. One employee saw the wet footprints of a child appearing on the pool deck... with no one there.

Fortelling The Fate of The Titanic

The Titanic has fascinated people since the disaster occurred. The Movie brought even more people around,You have heard of several psychics having warned of the wreck.Even the three people who changed their travel arrangements because of bad feelings or attempted to persuade a spouse not to go.Here is a story you might not have heard.

On April 14, 1912, the huge "unsinkable" ship the Titanic was steaming across the Atlantic towards New York. This was the Titanic's maiden voyage, and her captain was Encouraged to break the record for speed while making the voyage. As most people know, after striking an iceberg, the unsinkable ship went down in only a matter of hours. Out of the 2,201 passengers, only 711 were saved. Since then, there have been many books and movies about the Titanic.

There was one fictional story written by a merchant seaman by the name of Morgan Robertson. Robertson's book was about an unsinkable passenger liner that sank while carrying the elite people of the time. The ship in Robertson's story was called the Titan and the book was titled The Wreck of the Titan. Even though the book is fictitious, the events in the story parallel the events of the Titanic. Both ships were built to be unsinkable. Both ships sank after striking an iceberg. Both ships were on their maiden voyage. The most well to do famous people were on the Titan and Titanic. Only one third of the passengers on each ship survived. Both ships had an inadequate number of lifeboats. Both ships were encouraged to break speed records during their voyage.

Robertson's book The Wreck of the Titan was never published. Each time it was rejected by editor's, they told him the same thing. The story was unbelievable. Surely the events he wrote of could not possibly happen to an unsinkable ship.

The book, The Wreck of the Titan was written in 1898, fourteen years before the Titanic hit an iceberg and settled on the bottom of the ocean. The original book was called Futility, but when it was reissued after the Titanic disaster, it was renamed Futility, or The Wreck of the Titan.

Robertson later wrote a book called "Beyond the Spectrum". In this book, he described a futuristic war fought with aircraft that carried what he called "sun bombs". These bombs were so powerful that with one brilliant flash of blinding light, one single bomb could destroy an entire city (much like a nuclear bomb ). When this book was written, airplanes were still tiny, dangerous machines that could barely carry one man, and crashed frequently, and this was decades before the Germans started their "heavy water" experiments, trying to construct a nuclear device.

Robertson's future war begins in the month of December (much like the actual WW II, which began in December) when the Japanese stage a sneak attack on Hawaii. (WW II was started when the Japanese launched a sneak attack on an American base -Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii.)

Weird, to say the least. Who knows how in the world he came up with this "crazy" stuff at the time. He was probably laughed at by his peers in the book industry, too.

Ghost Ship The Mary Celeste

Another ghost ship you may have heard of is the ill fated Mary Celeste.
Originally built in Nova Scotia and named the Amazon in 1861, this ghost ship was
re-named the Mary Celeste in 1869 after numerous misfortunes and owners. One might say the Mary Celeste was cursed from the beginning.

On its last voyage, the Mary Celeste left New York City in November of 1872,a bright clear day for departure
The new captain Benjamin Briggs, his wife, and young daughter, along with 8 crew members departed bound for Genoa, Italy. The cargo consisted of 1700 barrels of raw American alcohol.

On December 5, 1872, the ship Dei Gratia came upon the Mary Celeste floundering on the sea. The captain of the Dei Gratia knew Captain Briggs and was surprised to see the ship derelict as Briggs had a reputation as an excellent captain. Men from the Dei Gratia boarded the abandoned Mary Celeste to determine what was going on.

The ship was found in good seaworthy condition. It appeared as though the crew had left in a great hurry. They discovered that the chronometer, sextant, and lifeboats were missing. There was water between the decks and the Galley was a mess. The stove was knocked out of place, cooking utensils were scattered around. Some cups of tea were o the table. Everything was soaked. A rope was found hanging over the side of the ship trailing in the water.
The crew from the Dei Gratia managed to get the Mary Celeste into port. When the cargo was unloaded, they found 9 of the barrels of alcohol empty.

What happened to the crew of the Mary Celeste? Some feel that the cargo became unstable and that the captain decided to trail behind the ship in the lifeboat until such time that it was safe to board. However, for some reason, the ship outdistanced the lifeboat leaving the crew helpless on the sea.
Others thought it was foul play, Mysterious blood stains were
found on three railings, and a blood stained sword was also found hidden under the
Captain's bed..Some think it was an abduction by a UFO,while still others think they were eaten by sharks while swimming in the sea.No one knows,The not knowing and the mystery of the empty ship sailing along without Captain and Crew has fascinated people to this day.

The Flying Dutchman

The Flying Dutchman

The best know ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman.Brought again to prominent attention with the Pirates of The Carribbean movies. There are several versions of the story, from a curse to a horrible crime to a plague. This is the one I like best.

The legend of The Flying Dutchman is said to have started in 1641 when a Dutch ship sank off the coast of the Cape of Good Hope:
Captain van der Decken was pleased. The trip to the Far East had been highly successful and at last, they were on their way home to Holland. As the ship approached the tip of Africa, the captain thought that he should make a suggestion to his employers, the Dutch East India Company, to start a settlement at the Cape on the tip of Africa. An ideal spot to provide a welcome stop for ships at sea.,he thought.

He was so deep in thought that he failed to notice the dark clouds looming. Only when he heard the lookout scream out in terror, did he realize that they had sailed straight into a fierce storm. The lookout had been blown down plunging to death on the deck.

The captain and his crew battled for hours to get out of the storm and at one stage it looked like they would make it. Then they heard a sickening crunch - the ship had hit treacherous rocks and began to sink. As the ship plunged downwards, Captain VandeDecken knew that death was approaching. He was not ready to die and screamed out a curse: "I WILL round this Cape even if I have to keep sailing until doomsday!"

So, even today whenever a storm brews off the Cape of Good Hope, if you look into the eye of the storm, you will be able to see the ship and its captain - The Flying Dutchman. can never go
home, but must sail the sea forever. If she is stopped by another ship at sea, her crew of the
dead will try to send messages to people ashore (who are long since dead). From afar, the Flying
Dutchman is usually described as having a glowing ghost light to it.

Don't look too carefully, for the old folk claim that whoever sights the ship will die a terrible death.

Many people in varied locations have seen The Dutchman.including a German submarine crew during World War 11

.The most well known sighting recorded is on July 11,1881.
The Royal Navy ship, the Bacchante was rounding the tip of Africa, when they were confronted with the sight of The Flying Dutchman. The midshipman, a prince who later became King George V, recorded that the lookout man and the officer of the watch had seen the Flying Dutchman and he used these words to describe the ship:

"A strange red light as of a phantom ship all aglow, in the midst of which light the mast, spars and sails of a brig 200 yards distant stood out in strong relief."

It's pity that the lookout saw the Flying Dutchman, for soon after on the same trip, he accidentally fell from a mast and died. Fortunately for the English royal family, the young midshipman survived the curse.

This is not part of the story but I found it so erie in relation that wanted to add it.

GHOST SHIPS

The HMS Eurydice, a 26-gun frigate that capsized and sank in Sandown Bay during a blizzard in 1878, is a famous phantom vessel that has been sighted by sailors over the years. On October 17, 1998, Prince Edward of England (1964– ) and the film crew for the television series "Crown and Country" saw the three-masted ship off the Isle of Wight and managed to capture its image on film.

Be Wary Of The Ouija Board

Ouija Wonderings?

As the plachette goes to goodbye on the ouija board just wanted to add a few more reports and thoughts from the Etsy forum on the subject.

So what might the future hold for the Ouija Board? It would appear that even in the fast pace of the twenty first century the board has managed to keep up. It now has a computerized counterpart! David Kelly from the Department of Mathematics at New Hampshire University developed it and is amazed by the success.Hr did have to change the name.He says, "The previous name, the World Wide Web Ouija, made use of a trademark, ouija, which is owned by Hasbro Inc. Their lawyers did not like the use of the word and asked me to change the name."

Some interesting points from history and trivia include:As early as 1924, Harry Houdini wrote that five people from Carrito, California were driven insane by using a "board.[15]

The late Roman Catholic priest Malachi Martin believed talking boards are dangerous and claimed that by using these devices a person opens themselves to demonic oppression or possession, topics upon which Martin spoke and wrote extensively for many years.
The American demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, stated that "Ouija boards are just as dangerous as drugs."

Thr trivia include a number of singers using it in their music albums including KMorrisey and Cheryl Crowe.More is listed in Wikipedia.

On the subject reviewed by skeptics is the curious ending with "As a final note about this enigmatic subject; the Ouija Board, whether it be deemed apparatus to communicate with the dead or simply something to help demonstrate harmless psychological behaviour, it is probably best avoided

Here are some comments from Etsy artists in their own words:
"it's definately not a game!!!!!.....we had a heck of an experience in high school!!!!......haven't touched one since!!!!....dh still doesn't like to talk about it!.....we both still get goose bumps just thinking about it!!!!"

fascinating thread - i wouldn't get within 10 feet of one of those boards. creepy and definately not something i want to invite in my life"

"ome doors should be left closed."

"A properly made Ouija board is a portal. And messing with portals is just stupid -- especially if you don't know what you're doing.

So, er, confused. Do you mean Parker Brothers is churning out properly made boards? I just have a hard time believing anything mass produced like that is problematic in and of itself. Doesn't mean I don't necessarily believe in portals, or in supernatural events (or that I do), just that I doubt the ability of PB to produce anything more inherently supernatural in nature than Candy Land."

"someone mentioned and I forgot to add...they made it into a game because of the $$$$!"

"power of belief, that's about it. I'd love to think there was something more and perhaps, sometimes there is. I also don't really belive in the idea of "evil." I think it's something conjured up to keep people in their places. However, I also think that it is possible that since we have believed and feared "evil" for so long that we have created it, thus sometimes things like Ouija boards might acctually be more then the phsycosomatic. But I think the majority of supernatural things are only our desperate desire to see something more. Ultimatly I say the only thing I know for sure is that I know absolutely nothing and neither does anyone else."

bad things always happen when i have used one"

So, What do you Think?

Ouija Works From Etsy

Wary Of Ouija?

Many are wary of the Ouija and some for especially good reasons from personal experience. Will say more about that later. For now am going to show some forum responses to "Ouija Boards,Pro or Con?"without their names.A piece of their work from their Etsy shop is included in the video. In their own words:

"my mom told me in no uncertain terms that i was to never touch a ouija board. she had been playing with one with some friends when the glass they were using shot off and hit the wall. my mom doesn't make up stuff like this, so when she told me the story i swore i wouldn't!"

"'m afraid of them actually and will not allow one in my house. So yes, I guess you could say I believe in them a lot because they scare the heck out of me."

"I believe in a healthy connection with a higher power and guardian spirits. That said, I've often heard/read that Ouija boards can draw in the lower level spirits. I had one when I was a teen, until my friend's car got stuck in the mud and we needed a board to put under the tire..."

"I used one with a friend back when we were like 14/15 years old.

The one paticular day, we kept talking to someone/something named KEVIN and he would swear like a trooper. We always thought that each one of us was maybe pushing it around etc..... just to get a reaction, until the one time one of us called out "Give us a sign you are there" and (I'm not lying) a balloon that was sitting in the bedroom with us popped right after we said that. We looked at each other and ran out of the room so fast and never used it again.

BUT then I gave my friend the Ouija board and he took it home and placed it on a shelf in his room and he said one day when he was outside his room her heard a crash in his room and went inside and the Ouija Board was laying half way across the bedroom, no way it would of ended up there if it just had fell of the shelf."

" used to play with Ouija boards as a kid, we even made some ourselves instead of the store bought kind out of cardboard. I had a demon follow me around for years after that. I would see weird things, feel weird things, and sometimes I'd be so scared when I was alone that I'd do everything in my power to find someone (anyone) to be with. It's hard to explain the feeling I'd get and the things I'd see...

It took a lot of strength to get rid of whatever it was, but I've never touched a board since the experiences I had. I know better. Yeah, I know kids can move the finder thing around, but I know what I saw and I know I'm not insane. There are too many things that we can't see/understand from our plane of existence for me to think that this is all there is here. Energy keeps on existing, it just changes form."

In a journey through Ebay just to check out the land. There were 4 pages of listings under Ouija Board.Numerous regular boards, some angel and witch boards, some glow in the dark types, some for dolls and for doll houses, several William Fudd original oracle boards(I had never heard of him until doing this subject..)parchment and paper copies of the patent, records and shirts of k.Morrisy's song, mousepads, coasters, mugs, and three kinds of wrist watches, one pocket watch, two pendants and a pair of earrings. Is that Amazing or what?
Will add only this for today from Wikipedia:
In 1944, occultist Manly P. Hall, the founder of the Philosophical Research Society and an early authority on the occult in the 20th century, stated in Horizon magazine that, "during the last 20-25 years I have had considerable personal experience with persons who have complicated their lives through dabbling with the Ouija board. Out of every hundred such cases, at least 95 are worse off for the experience." He went on to say that, "I know of broken homes, estranged families, and even suicides that can be traced directly to this source."[11]

The Peacock Feather

The Peacock Feather And The Ouija Board

One of the Etsy Artists who told us about a time of usong the Ouija Board is The Peacock Feather. She has a vintage focus in her work. Some is in the video posted. You may visit her shop here http://ThrPeacockFeather.etsy.com
This is her story in her own words:

"I lived in a house and behind me, my girlfriend (P) lived in the upstairs of a house. Across the street from her lived another friend(R). We were all in our 20's and we all had kids. This was on Long Island and at one time the area we lived in had been a small Indian reservation.

They dug out the ground next door to my friend behind me to build a new house. Every night around 11:00 p.m. we would hear what sound like children playing.
I asked P if she heard it too and she said yes, but we never saw anything.

R was very very psychic but we didn't think anything of it at the time. I suggested that the three of us try the ouija board to see if we could find out what was making the noise.

We all went to R's house and we sat in a little circle on chairs with our knees touching. Again we did not realize that by touching like this were forming a strong bond.

We put our hand on the planchett and it started moving like a race car. it was going so fast we couldn't keep track of the letters to form words so P said she would write the letters down while R and I used the planchett.
R was not looking at the board but had her eyes closed and her head straight. I decided not to look at the board either as it was still flying but P was writing down all of the letters.

My arms were getting really tired and I said this is silly we should stop and P yelled, No. No I have two paragraphs already.
we went until there were three and my arms just couldn't do it anymore.

P started to read what she had written. We believe it was a child and a female but the name sounded Indian. she talked about how she had drowned in the bog.
we all looked at each other. what was a bog? we had to get the dictionary and looked it up to see that it was swamp land of which we were surrounded us where we lived.

It spooked us so bad that we went to the bathroom holding onto each others hand because we were that afraid. We waited for R's husband to come home from work, he was a cop, and he had to walk us each home even though we all lived within feet of each other LOL.

anyway before we left we all prayed for peace for this child and I told them to pray that night too. we never heard the noises again and the ouija went under my bed.

years later when I learned that we could have easily attracted something no so good it went into the trash. The other two never touched one again either."

Thank you to The Peacock Feather for this information.Next time some more comments from Ouija Board users.

Ask The Ouija Board?

Did you ever use a ouija board? They were popular at sleep overs and parties when I was youngerThat and table rapping seemed spooky fun and harmless.Later as I found out more about paranormal activity, and a personal experience, that changed.I would not use one now.
We discussed this in a forum on Etsy the other day.I have not catagorized all of the 181 responses but did go back over the first four pages. Those played out for "Ouija boards Pro or Con?" with 9 people saying it was dangerous or they would never use one.Two thought there was nothing to it.Three thought it was just fun,Here are some of the comments chosen at random

"I think they are the equivalent to saying hey anybody and everybody out there in the spirit world, come on in. I Hate Them"

"the information the ouija gave me was information that i knew already (a name). later, i found out that the name i knew for that person was a false name, and that i even had the spelling wrong (and the spririt had spelled it the way i thought it was spelled)
so, was it me and my subconscious? or was it some sort of spirit just responding on the basis of what i knew (and "reading" my

mind you, the in the middle of summer, while we were doing this, the room i was in got freezing cold and the lights were flickering.i'm torn"

"My mother used one once in our home when I was young and brought in something that scared the crap out of all of us frequently thereafter. I will never use one nor let my kids have one in our home."

"i played with one... but in retrospect, i can't say for sure if what was happening was a product of my conscience or of a spirit."

"Played it as a kid,but as an adult I don't mess with those things.I don't think people have any clue as to what they may be conjouring up-I don't think them as just a game."

"I played it in my adolescense and I was the one pushing it to depict messages from "dead people". So yeah, not a believer.

This fits with the findings of some research. We will talk some more later about some specific experiences people had.

Where did this thing come from and is it a game?

There are conflicting thoughts about the origin. One author says the board has been around since the time of the Roman Emperor Valens in the fourth century. It is also thought to have been used by the Greeks since before the time of Christ.

Another says Ouija boards came into existence as a parlor game in the mid-1800's, when spiritism and channeling were at the height of fashion.
The word "Ouija" is a blend of the French and German words for "yes." Adolphus Theodore Wagner first patented Ouija boards, sometimes referred to as "talking boards," in London, England on January 23, 1854.
In the patent, Wagner called his invention a "psychograph" and its purpose was to read the minds of people with "nervous energy." By 1861, Frenchman, Allan Kardac, was describing the Ouija board as instruments with which to open communications with the spirit world. In seven short years, the Ouija board had evolved from a mind-reader to portal of communication with the dead.

A sort of definition/description indicates
The theory behind the practice of using the board, and the placing of fingers on a glass or slidable message indicator, is to facilitate communication with the spirits of the dead. Once fingers are lightly placed upon the apparatus of choice, a question is asked out loud and the spirits are said to reply when the tumbler or 'planchette' (slideable apparatus), appears to move of its own free will. It is sometimes thought that the spirits are invoked or channeled and work through the fingers of the operator(s) by moving the planchette towards letters, words or numbers. From these letters and numbers it is hoped that intelligent messages will build up to answer any given questions put to the board. Many ouija board users claim that often information is imparted that no one present could possibly have known. Such claims over the years has helped to add to the whole aura of danger and mystery which still surrounds the ouija board today

The Ouija board was first introduced in the United States in 1890 as a parlor game sold in novelty shops. E.C. Reiche, Elijah Bond, and Charles Kennard created a new design. They spread the letters of the alphanumeric in twin arcs across the middle of the board. Below the letters were the numbers one to ten. In the corners were Yes and No.

There are several theories about the origin of the term "Ouija". According to one of these, the word is derived from the French "oui" (for "yes") and the German/Dutch "ja" (also for "yes"). An alternative story suggests that the name was revealed to inventor Charles Kennard during a Ouija séance and was claimed to be an Ancient Egyptian word meaning "good luck.".
However Ouija is not the Egyptian word for good luck. Since the board repeatedly told Kennard that Ouija was the Egyptian word, the name stayed.

In 1966 the Parker Brothers purchased the rights to the Ouija Board and shifted its manufacturing facilities to Salem, Massachusetts. "Ouija" is a registered trademark.
Reportedly ot says ...A Game Or Is It?

Today, it is found in all discount chain and toy stores.Unfortunately someone said in Walmart they were low on the shelf in easy reach of children.I agree with the mother above who said she would never let her children have one.
I had a terrifying experience trying to get rid of one when my daughter was a pre teen. Will tell you about that and some other even more upsetting experiences of others,

Lost Civilization Of The Pacific

Do You Think Lemuria Was Sexy? Some Say No.

As mentioned earlier, there are those who believe that Lemuria suddenly appeared with a full-blown culture. This has spawned many interesting theories, including visits from extraterrestrials who introduced a new species of genetically engineered humans to replace their slow-witted ancestors. This too links with other creational theories about humans being seeded by gods or aliens.

Some believe that Lemurians were much more like early humans, living in a sort of idyllic paradise, largely agrarian with lush forests and an abundance of flowers and fruit trees. Feminine principles of sharing, cooperation, and creativity produced a society virtually free of crime, strife, and warfare. They were vegetarians and lived in harmony with nature and other creatures. They had a highly developed psychic and telepathic abilities which were applied in everyday life - giving them manifestation and other reality creating techniques.

In fact, Wiki]edia tells us
"Though Lemuria has passed out of the realm of conventional science, it has been adopted by occult writers, as well as some Tamil writers of India. Accounts of Lemuria differ according to the requirements of their contexts, but all share a common belief that a continent existed in ancient times and sank beneath the ocean as a result of geological change, often cataclysmic"

That could not be more evident than from Madame Helen Blavatsky, a woman of world wide fame in the late nineteenth century.Wikipedia indicates that her works entered Lemuria into the occult, yet was accepted by many famous scientists of the time.

She claimed in the 1880s to have been shown an ancient, pre-Atlantean Book of Dzyan by the Mahatmas. Within Blavatsky's complex cosmology, which includes seven "Root Races", Lemuria was occupied by the "Third Root Race",

So what? You may ask.Well, they were claimed to be from 7 to 10 feet tall. Yes, you may say but many skeletons of "giants" have been found in those areas and even in the Southwest and California. That is true, but Madame Blavatsky said they sexually hermaphroditic, egg-laying, mentally undeveloped and spiritually more pure than the following "Root Races .They had a third eye and communicated telepathically....OH; After the subsequent creation of mammals, Mme Blavatsky revealed to her readers, some Lemurians turned to bestiality. The gods, aghast at the behavior of these "mindless" men, sank Lemuria into the ocean ...

From literature not science comes an idea around that time.I do not know conclusively if this author is Madame or a relative. but it was stated that in the works of H.P. Blavatsky, notably in The Secret Doctrine (1888), where she writes of "Dragon-men" who once had a mighty civilization on a Lemurian continent, until their rampant use of black magic brought about the end of their civilization, and their continent sank. Blavatsky in turn claims to have obtained this information from The Book of Dzyan. However, many consider that Blavatsky invented the book herself. Blavatsky believed that the terms "Dragon-men" or "Serpent-men" used to describe the Lemurian Lizard Beings in the Book of Dzyan were symbolic, intended to symbolize their advanced knowledge and magical powers

Churchworld a scientist and researcher of the time gives his theory. The Children of Mu is the story of the pioneers of Mu. Sixty-three million people lived on the now lost continent of Mu over 200,000 years ago. The children of Mu became the most influential people on Earth. Mu had an incredibly sophisticated government, flowering culture and scientific technology. Much of the Lemurian civilization lived in homes with transparent roofs. They built shelters, made clothing, food, and their own tools. They were free from stress and disease, living in peace for hundreds of years. Their psychic abilities were highly developed - telepathy, astral travel and teleportation making traditional communication devices unnecessary. They were primarily a vegetarian, agricultural, outdoor, organic culture that worked in harmony with nature and the land.

The following explanation appeared but I am unsure who brought this out or whether or not it was related to Blanvatasky or Churchworld. It is interesting.Sounds like theirs.
L emurians had pliable, jelly-like bodies and slowly developed physical forms. [Movement from higher to lower frequency - above the physical into solid matter].The first Lemurian subraces allegedly were apelike, egg-laying hermaphrodites who communicated by mental telepathy through a third eye This atrophied after Lemuria's fall and became the pineal gland still found in modern humans.
.Finally, the ever-increasing density of matter helped usher in an era of sexual reproduction, and two distinct sexes emerged from one being. This marked the fall of man, and henceforth male and female would strive to reunite as one body through sexual intercourse.

The first theory of the people of Lemuria is far more appealing after reviewing the others.I take it.

There is one more thing that has a number of believers in the United States.
In 1894, Frederick Spencer Oliver published A Dweller on Two Planets, which claimed that survivors from a sunken continent called Lemuria were living in or on Mount Shasta in northern California. The Lemurians lived in a complex of tunnels beneath the mountain and occasionally were seen walking the surface dressed in white robes.

Several sightings have been reported of these white clad group in the area.A crowd of citizens of the area took explosives and used them in an attempt to dislodge these folks but no one came out.(Except the police?)
Popular novels have also repeated the belief that Lemurians inhabit Mount Shasta. Among such novels, Vin Smith's The Outrageous Views of Professor Fogelman links Lemurians to Ancient Egypt, UFOs and a method of travel called vortex portals--essentially a pathway to sacred places on Earth as well as points unknown in the universe.

It is said that the Mount Shasta area has a high number of UFOs.

Lost Civilazations

Lemuria or Mu Real or Myth?

.Lemuria, also known as Motherland Mu, was and is an ancient civilization that existed physically as an enormous continent in the Pacific Ocean from approximately 98 000 B.C. to 8 000 B.C. long before, and partially at the same time as, Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean. The people of Mu went through many phases during their civilization, and are best known by their highly advanced culture and spirituality

The legend of Mu is found on all the islands of the Pacific Ocean. For thousands of years the Polynesians have handed down the story of this civilization. The name comes from a controversy over Charles Darwin's Origin of the Species. The Darwin supporters had trouble explaining how some species were distributed over certain large areas. Zoologists especially found it difficult to explain the distribution of the lemurs. The lemurs are a small primitive form of primates found in Africa,Madagascar,India and the East Indian archipelago. Some zoologists suggested a large land mass in the Indian Ocean millions of years ago between Madagascar and India .An English zoologist, Phillip L.Schlater, suggested it be named Lemuria for this former land of the lemurs.

The idea of the Lemurian continent first was found in the works of Agustus Le Plongeon(1826-1908) This writer and researcher had spent time investigating the Maya ruins in the Yucatan. He announced his translations of ancient Mayan writings showed that the Maya of the Yucatan were older than the civilizations of both Atlantis and Egypt.Additionally,he told of an even older continent of Mu whose survivors founded the Maya civilization.

Later, a metaphysical leader who brought the relm into that area for focus,Mme Blasvatsky located her Lemuria in the Indian Ocean about 150 million years ago. She may have obtained her ideas of a sunken land in the Indian Ocean from Sanskrit legends of the former continent of Rutas that sank beneath the sea. But the name Rutas sounds too spiritless and uninspiring to have held such a prominent place in cosmic history.
In this century, writers have increasingly placed Lemuria in the Pacific Ocean
.
..There are those who believe that Lemuria suddenly appeared with a full-blown culture. This has spawned many interesting theories, including visits from extraterrestrials who introduced a new species of genetically engineered humans to replace their slow-witted ancestors.
This too links with other creationa theories about humans being seeded by gods or aliens.
Another theory is based on the notion of 'seed crystals' in which the knowledge and story of Lemuria was encoded and stored in seed crystals just before Lemuria fell. Later- the crystals would be discovered and their messages revealed helping those who find them remember their heritage.
A variation fairly well accepted is that a vast number of Lemurians went underground to avoid the cataclysmic earth changes that were coming.Several hundred years were spent, as the theory says in preparing the underground world,They would be given a sign when to enter it.The imprinting of the crystals with seeds containing all the knowledge of the ages was to be done. The crystals then would be housed underground with the people. Some were dispersed to other higher grounds and areas, by boat, to live while assisting in saving and spreading the knowledge.

Next will be a most unusual theory of the people of Mu as presented by a colorful and contraversal woman Mme Blasvatsky
As flamboyant as she was, the people as she describes them ( complete with seeing through their "Third Eye") would be even more a sight to behold..

Madame Elena Petrovna Blavatsky (born Helena Hahn 1831-1891),

Also look at a claim of Lemurians living in California.

Lost Civilization

Description & Edgar Cayce's Thoughts of Atlantis

This palace,at the center of Atlantis, was surrounded by five rings of water and land connected only by tunnels large enough for ships to pass through. Atlantians were amazing engineers. They built palaces, temples, harbors, docks and a complicated water system - all about 12,000 years ago. Farmers grew the food on a field not much larger than the state of Oklahoma. Behind this massive field there where mountains touching the sky where many of the wealthy villagers lived. Plato described spectacular buildings, fountains that had both hot and cold water, stone walls covered with precious metals and huge statues made of gold. All destroyed
when Zeus struck and Atlantis disappeared.

Whether Plato intended to end his story of Atlantis so abruptly or whether he intended to extend it no one knows. Just as no one knows whether Plato believed in the real existence of the island or whether it was purely a mythical kingdom. Many have said they believe that Plato believed in the island's existence because he exerted so much detail in its description, while others reject this by claiming since the story was purely fiction Plato could add whatever he wanted.

However, Plato's work was not the only one to point to a 'lost continent'. There are legends of other old civilizations that mention lost worlds which disappeared into the waters, as a result of volcanic eruptions, floods, and earthquakes. Some did not even mention the story, but drew a map with an island lying in the Atlantic Ocean.(phttp://atlantis.haktanir.org/ch1.html)
Maybe Plato intended to make people think about Atlantis – remember Plato was a philosopher. As a politician defending democracy, he might have wanted to point at the fact that governmental degeneration finally leads to doom.

A number of people have written about Atlantis but none is more important than Atlantis: the Antediluvian World, written by Ignatius Donnelly,an American Congressman. The 1882 publication of Atlantis: the Antediluvian World stimulated much popular interest in Atlantis.

Donnelly presented geological and archeological evidence along with legend to support his belief in Atlantis' existence. He also pointed to similarities between Egyptian and Central/South American cultures, such as their 365-day calendars, flood legends, and embalming and pyramid-building practices, as suggesting that these peoples shared a common origin - though they had since become separated by the Atlantic Ocean. Finally, he cited certain peoples of Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands (all were likely landing spots for refugees from Atlantis) who were distinctly different from their neighbors in those regions.

One of Americas most Internationally know psychics ,Edgar Cayce "The Sleeping Prophet", spoke of Atlantis and the related continent of Lemuria or Mu which either was before Atlantis or a contemporary society which also was destroyed by cataclysmic earth changes.Cayces "Readings" were carefully recorded and kept on file at the agency dedicated to his work.
Later ther readings were catagorizes and published. Many dealt with Atlantis or the people.A few highlights inclde:

The Cayce readings affirm the existence of Atlantis, a vast continent with an advanced technology whose refugees peopled ancient Egypt as well as pre-Columbian America.According to Cayce, Atlantis suffered 3 major destructions one of which was the deluge.

Land Mass - The size of Atlantis was equal to that of Europe, including Asia in Europe. He saw visions of a continent which had gone through three major periods of division; the first two about 15,600 BCE, when the mainland was divided into islands. The three main islands Cayce named Poseida, Og and Aryan.

Atlantean Souls - Many people living today are the reincarnations of Atlantean souls, who must now face similar temptations as before.

Blue Stone - Cayce predicted the coming of a certain 'blue stone' of Atlantean origin, that was to be found on "an island in the Caribbean" and was to have the power to heal. In 1974 a Volcanic blue pectolite now known as the Larimar was found in the Dominican Republic

Crystals - The Atlanteans had constructed giant laser-like crystals for power plants, and that these had been responsible for the second destruction of the land. In metaphysical circles this colored gemstone is said to have healing powers; as with most crystals and gemstones, there is no scientific evidence that it has any special properties. The final destruction was in part to due to the overcharging of the Crystal which caused a massive explosion. Cayce blamed the final destruction on the disintegration of the Atlantean culture through greed and lust. But before the legendary land disappeared under the waves, Cayce believed there was an exodus of many Atlanteans through Egypt and further afield. Cayce attributed history's Great Flood in part to the sinking of the last huge remnants of Atlantis..

Atlantis Rising - Cayce most specifically timed forecast was that Atlantis would rise again in 1968 or 1969. Needless to say, Cayce was wrong on that count. [Note: However, it was in that time frame that the "Bimini Road" was located in the Atlantic Ocean. Whether this under water structure is a "road" or "natural, geologic erosion" is unproven.

A History of Atlantis.

I found the video on You Tube.Charlton Heston was a long time favorite despite his political views. You may wish to watch it rather than read this as both are lengthy.I had gotten this together though.

Atlantis Fact Or Fiction?Part 1

The only record we have of Atlantis is from the Greek Philosopher Plato.
Greek philosopher - 427-347 B.C.
Note: Dates are approximate, there is some uncertainty as to his birth and death

Plato was a student of Socrates until the latter's death in 399 BC at the hands of the Athenian authorities. After his teacher's death, Plato traveled extensively, including journeys in Egypt.

In 387 BC he returned to Athens and founded the Academy, a school of science and philosophy, that became the model for the modern university. Perhaps the most famous student of the Academy was Aristotle whose teachings have had tremendous impact on philosophy through today.

Due to the Academy's safekeeping, many of Plato's works have survived. His extant writings are in the form of letters and dialogues, the most famous of which is probably The Republic. His writings cover subjects ranging from knowledge to happiness to politics to nature.

Two of his dialogues, Timeaus and Critias, hold the only known original references to the island of Atlantis.
All of the men, except for Timaeus, who take part in or are mentioned in Timaeus and Critias are known to have actually existed in ancient Greece. Records of their lives and deeds have been recorded in other writings from the time period.

Note: There are 2 people named Critias related to the story of Atlantis and this can lead to some confusion. There is the Critias who actually takes part in the dialogues. He is the one who tells the story of Atlantis to Socrates. Then there is Critias who was the grandfather of the Critias of the dialogues. This elder Critias told the story of Atlantis to his grandson, Critias, who then conveyed the story to Socrates in the dialogues.
The dialogues are conversations between Socrates, Hermocrates, Timeaus, and Critias. Apparently in response to a prior talk by Socrates about ideal societies, Timeaus and Critias agree to entertain Socrates with a tale that is "not a fiction but a true story."

The story is about the conflict between the ancient Athenians and the Atlantians 9000 years before Plato's time. Knowledge of the distant past apparently forgotten to the Athenians of Plato's day, the story of Atlantis was conveyed to Solon by Egyptian priests. Solon passed the tale to Dropides, the great-grandfather of Critias. Critias learned of it from his grandfather also named Critias, son of Dropides.

Those who actually take part in the dialogues:

# Timaeus - there is no historical record of him.
# Critias - Plato's great grandfather.
# Socrates - Plato's mentor and teacher. He was condemned to death by authorities in Athens for "corrupting the moral of Athenian youth"; He lived from 469 to 399 BC.
# Hermocrates - statesman and soldier from Syracuse.

Those mentioned in the dialogues:
# Solon - Athenian traveler, poet, and lawgiver who lived from approximately 638-559 BC. According to Plato it was he who learned of the story of Atlantis from an Egyptian priest.
# Dropides - Critias' great grandfather who was told the story of Atlantis by Solon, a distant relative and close friend.
# Critias - Son of Dropides and grandfather of the Critias who takes part in the dialogues. It was he who related the story of Atlantis to the Critias of the dialogues.

The Story of Atlantis

Over 11,000 years ago there existed an island nation located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean populated by a noble and powerful race. The people of this land possessed great wealth thanks to the natural resources found throughout their island. The island was a center for trade and commerce. The rulers of this land held sway over the people and land of their own island and well into Europe and Africa.

This was the island of Atlantis.
Atlantis was the domain of Poseidon, god of the sea. When Poseidon fell in love with a mortal woman, Cleito, he created a dwelling at the top of a hill near the middle of the island and surrounded the dwelling with rings of water and land to protect her.
leito gave birth to five sets of twin boys who became the first rulers of Atlantis. The island was divided among the brothers with the eldest, Atlas, first King of Atlantis, being given control over the central hill and surrounding areas.

At the top of the central hill, a temple was built to honor Poseidon which housed a giant gold statue of Poseidon riding a chariot pulled by winged horses. It was here that the rulers of Atlantis would come to discuss laws, pass judgments, and pay tribute to Poseidon..

To facilitate travel and trade, a water canal was cut through of the rings of land and water running south for 5.5 miles (~9 km) to the sea.(Large enough for ships to sail.)

The city of Atlantis sat just outside the outer ring of water and spread across the plain covering a circle of 11 miles (1.7 km). This was a densely populated area where the majority of the population lived.

Beyond the city lay a fertile plain 330 miles (530 km) long and 110 miles (190 km) wide surrounded by another canal used to collect water from the rivers and streams of the mountains. The climate was such that two harvests were possible each year. One in the winter fed by the rains and one in the summer fed by irrigation from the canal.

Surrounding the plain to the north were mountains which soared to the skies. Villages, lakes, rivers, and meadows dotted the mountains.

Besides the harvests, the island provided all kinds of herbs, fruits, and nuts. An abundance of animals, including elephants, roamed the island.

For generations the Atlanteans lived simple, virtuous lives. But slowly they began to change. Greed and power began to corrupt them. When Zeus saw the immorality of the Atlanteans he gathered the other gods to determine a suitable punishment.

Soon, in one violent surge it was gone. The island of Atlantis, its people, and its memory were swallowed by the sea.

This is a summary of the story told by Plato around 360 BC in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias.

A Quite Different Thought

Erich von Däniken was born April 14th, 1935, in Zofingen, Switzerland.
Writer and Hotellier Erich von Däniken claims that extraterrestrials had contact with the ancient world and that we are descendants of these creatures (ancient astronauts). His books have sold 63 million copies worldwide. He has also been featured on television series. Erich von Däniken's most famous book is Chariots of the Gods.
Despite the fact that after Chariots of the Gods came out some of the material von Däniken used as evidence was shown to be fraudulent and his arguments have been refuted, Erich von Däniken remains extremely popular and many people believe him.
