Evil, Lies, & the Human Belief System

David Kupelian, managing editor of WorldNetDaily, recently discussed how the human psyche is exploited by criminals, terrorists, politicians and marketers, as well as why some celebrities go haywire. The basic building block of evil is the lie or deception, which can be used to fuel genocide, he explained, citing how in Africa, the Hutus were told by their leaders that the Tutsis "were not human, they are cockroaches and snakes." And further, Radio Rwanda repeatedly broadcast that the Tutsis were about to attack the Hutus. "These two big lies opened the floodgates for all out genocide-- almost a million people were slashed with machetes and clubs," he said.

Victims are portrayed as a threat as well as dehumanized, and this is a common thread in all cases of genocide, he continued. Such big lies cause people to emotionally react, become upset and irrational. Hitler bragged that he "always kept the masses emotionalized," Kupelian noted. Politicians often tell lies, assuring voters with what they want to hear, and preying on people's tendency to want to believe, he added.

The mind is vulnerable to various kinds of manipulation. He spoke about cases of "Stockholm Syndrome" where a hostage begins sympathizing with their captors, like with Patty Hearst, as well as how fame has corrupted the minds of a number of celebrities, who are worshiped by their fans. Kupelian also suggested that antidepressants were being over-prescribed, pushed by pharmaceutical advertisements, and that many people had lost the ability to deal with their problems without taking a pill.

Some Edgar Cayce Comments

Whether you believe or not, most people have heard of America's "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Cayce.Rge Association related to his work is still quite active with headquarters in Virginia Beach.)Association of Religious Enlightment_ARE)

Recently on Coast To coast Am a discussion took place

"..Director at Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment) since 1969, John Van Auken discussed the "Sleeping Prophet's" visions for the future, as well as his insights into such topics as the Mayans, Egypt, Atlantis, dreaming, and health remedies. The Mayans were comparable to the Atlanteans in terms of their being attuned to "celestial consciousness," but both groups eventually devolved into more war-like states, Cayce said. Interestingly, Cayce's view of seven cycles or ages corresponds with the Mayans, Van Auken noted. Passageways in the Great Pyramid at Giza have prophecies carved in stone, which end in the year 2038, and Cayce concurred that these predictions were for the most part correct, said Van Auken

Cayce believed that souls similar to ours exist in different forms in other dimensions and planets, and that it's possible to communicate with them. Further, he said that the human body was evolving into a new form, and that we would eventually have 12 chakras (energy centers) instead of seven. Regarding reincarnation, he suggested that our individual personalities are absorbed back into the soul upon death.
According to Van Auken, Cayce accurately predicted such events as the Stock Market Crash of 1929, World War II, and the Indonesian tsunami of 2004. His future predictions include a pole shift, and the Great Lakes draining into the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi & Ohio rivers..."
Cayce gave many medical readings throughout his career, and the A.R.E. offers a free database of some of this information.

From A Ghost Whisperer?

I was startled and sorry to hear that CBS will not br picking up Ghost Whisperer next season. It is one of my favorite programs.

Medium James Van Praagh, a producer, discussed his encounters with spirits of the deceased, their perceptions of the Other Side, their unfinished business and regrets, and their advice for the living. In describing what happens when we die, he said people feel a sense of peace and tranquility, and they are always met by loved ones-- "no one ever dies alone." Van Praagh shared his own NDE: "there's a sense of oneness...that we do all belong...there's a universal tapestry and each one of us has a tether at the top of our head which touches that tapestry, and we're all connected."

Some spirits don't realize that they're dead, and remain in denial for a time, he explained. Many spirits have told him that their death was related to their addictions, and he advised people to deal with their addictions while on the earthly plane, so that they won't be caught up with this on the next level. In order to communicate with a deceased person while in the dream state, Van Praagh suggested that before going to sleep, ask that person to show up. "Send out that thought and let it go. And when you least suspect it, when you're not trying to control it, they will come into your dream state and you will see them."

When spirits come through to Van Praagh, they sometimes offer warnings to their loved ones about business deals or looming medical problems, he noted, adding that they have accurately foreseen the need for someone to see a doctor for a particular condition. At a demonstration at a hotel for 100 people, a man's deceased son came through to ask for help for his father who was battling alcoholism. The spirit thanked his father for putting his name on a tattoo, and the father pulled up his shirt and revealed that he did have a tattoo across his chest in Gothic letters-- "My Beloved Son, Michael."

BTW he says they hope another network will pick up the show...

Superstitous Serbia

Superstitious Serbia
| 10 May 2010 | By Mona Mangat

This was an interesting post with a rundown on the complexities of beliefs, a profile of some well known and popular psychics with cult followings in the country.you may wish to read the entire article.this part is a focus on some of the superstitions...
"...Well, that all depends on the omens because if your nose itches you’ll either be getting into a fight or drinking soon. And heaven forbid that your right hand should itch, for you’re going to lose money. Of course, if your left hand is itching in the centre of the palm, you’re going to get money soon or meet someone new.

Your spoon falls to the floor. That’s fortunate because the next person to enter the room will be a sweet, good woman. If it’s a fork it will be an angry one, and if it’s a knife, it indicates a man’s arrival. If you’ve forgotten something at home, don’t go back! It’s very bad luck, especially before a long journey. If you really need to go back, make sure to look in a mirror before you leave the house again to reverse the luck. If someone sneezes while you’re speaking, you’re likely to hear “Istina, Istina” (True, True). This omen is proof that you’re speaking the truth. Blame it all on Serbian logic.

Even Ana Ivanovic, famous Serbian Women’s Tennis Player apparently can’t resist. She won’t step on tennis court lines before a match. We could go on and on, but suffice to say that Serbia and Serbian’s have attached a portent, an omen or a folsky saying for almost every aspect of daily life

Some Well-known Serbian Supersititions:

Hiccups are caused by people talking about you.

If you whistle while in someone’s house (or your own), you will attract mice and rats.

If you put on a t-shirt inside-out unwittingly, it means that someone is missing you.

If you put on underwear inside-out by mistake, you’ll be followed by good luck.

A loaf of bread must never be upside down, it brings misfortune.

Leaving a bag or purse on the floor will cause you to lose money.

Sitting at a corner-seat at of a table means you’ll remain single forever.

Having long fingers means you’ll probably become a thief or that you’ll steal something.

Having a v-shaped hairline on your forehead means you’ll be a widow (widow’s peak)

If you bite your tongue or cheek by accident, your granny is planning to bake for you.

Having your right palm itch means you will spend money soon, while having your left palm itch means you’ll be getting money soon

Always look into someone’s eyes when clinking glasses, failure will result in 7 disasterous years in the bedroom.

Never say “Ziveli” (Cheers) with something that isn’t alcohol, i.e. water.

Always take a sip from the glass after toasting before putting the glass back on the table"

Never Saw Them In Mayberry!

Interesting that today is the birthday of the well known "Siamese Twins" who resided for many years near Mt.Airy NC.

"So unique and famous were the brothers that the term "Siamese Twins" is derived from their birthplace of Siam. Their remarkable lives would also inspire a short story by Mark Twain, a BBC radio play, a best-selling novel, and even a musical in Singapore."
They were called "Chinese Twins" in Siam.Wikipedia gives some highlights.Their wives were rather remarkable in my opinion.

"...They were joined at the sternum by a small piece of cartilage. Their livers were fused but independently complete. Although 19th century medicine did not have the means to do so, modern surgical techniques would have easily allowed them to be separated. In 1829, they were "discovered" in Siam by British merchant Robert Hunter and exhibited as a curiosity during a world tour. Upon termination of their contract with their discoverer, they successfully went into business for themselves. In 1839, while visiting Wilkesboro, North Carolina, the twins were attracted to the area and settled on a 110 acre farm in nearby Traphill, becoming naturalized United States citizens.

Determined to start living a normal life as much as possible, the brothers settled on a plantation, bought slaves, and adopted the name "Bunker". On April 13, 1843, they married two sisters: Chang to Adelaide Yates and Eng to Sarah Anne Yates. Interestingly, this made their respective children double first cousins, a situation wherein the cousins are actually as genetically related as half-siblings. Their Traphill home is where they shared a bed built for four. Chang and his wife had 10 children; Eng and his wife had 11. In time, the wives squabbled[4] and eventually two separate households were set up just west of Mount Airy, North Carolina in the community of White Plains – the twins would alternate spending three days at each home...

The twins died on the same day in January of 1874. Chang, who had contracted pneumonia, died rather suddenly in his sleep. Eng awoke to find his brother dead, and called for his wife and children to attend to him. A doctor was summoned to perform an emergency separation, but Eng refused to be separated from his dead brother. He died three hours later."

Happiness Or Destiny Is Not In Your DNA

"Life is what you make it", my Grandpa would often say.

Dr. Laurie Nadel and author James D. Baird talked about the "happiness gene." The new science of epigenetics suggests that people can use their minds to turn on and off certain genes, said Baird. "There is a biological basis for us to be happy," and our environment and thoughts affect our genes, Nadel outlined. The two have put together a 28-day plan for people to change habits and become more happy, which involves relaxation exercises, and "rebooting your internal environment."

This is an article from TIME referring to epigenetics...

"The USPS Finally Got It Right"

My friend Jan was a Travel Nurse also some years ago.We met in an assignment at Palm Springs. She is far better at keeping in touch than I ever could be.Only one of the things I admire about her.She forwarded this EMail the other day.I am posting it including the title.I pwesonally have had good experience for the most part with USPS but with aa current report of the hiring of convicted Sex Offenders and past experience as a Clinical Specialist at a VAMC where so many PTSD Veterans seen were on the verge of "going postal"I agree with a young Attending Physician there who said "It is a wonder we ever get our mail!"Here it is"

Bill Mauldin Stamp Honors Grunts' Hero

The post office gets a lot of criticism. Always has, always will.

And with the renewed push to get rid of Saturday mail delivery, expect complaints to intensify.

But the United States Postal Service deserves a standing ovation for something that's going to happen this month: Bill Mauldin is getting his own postage stamp.

Mauldin died at age 81 in the early days of 2003. The end of his life had been rugged. He had been scalded in a bathtub, which led to terrible injuries and infections; Alzheimer's disease was inflicting its cruelties. Unable to care for himself after the scalding, he became a resident of a California nursing home, his health and spirits in rapid decline.

He was not forgotten, though. Mauldin, and his work, meant so much to the millions of Americans who fought in World War II, and to those who had waited for them to come home. He was a kid cartoonist for Stars and Stripes, the military newspaper; Mauldin's drawings of his muddy, exhausted, whisker-stubbled infantrymen Willie and Joe were the voice of truth about what it was like on the front lines.
Mauldin was an enlisted man just like the soldiers he drew for; his gripes were their gripes, his laughs were their laughs, his heartaches were their heartaches. He was one of them. They loved him.

He never held back. Sometimes, when his cartoons cut too close for comfort, his superior officers tried to tone him down. In one memorable incident, he enraged Gen. George S. Patton, and Patton informed Mauldin he wanted the pointed cartoons -- celebrating the fighting men, lampooning the high-ranking officers -- to stop. Now.

The news passed from soldier to soldier. How was Sgt. Bill Mauldin going to stand up to Gen. Patton? It seemed impossible.

Not quite. Mauldin, it turned out, had an ardent fan: Five-star Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, supreme commander of the Allied forces in Europe . Ike put out the word: Mauldin draws what Mauldin wants. Mauldin won. Patton lost.

If, in your line of work, you've ever considered yourself a young hotshot, or if you've ever known anyone who has felt that way about himself or herself, the story of Mauldin's young manhood will humble you. Here is what, by the time he was 23 years old, Mauldin had accomplished:

He won the Pulitzer Prize. He was featured on the cover of Time magazine. His book "Up Front" was the No. 1 best-seller in the United States .

All of that at 23. Yet when he returned to civilian life and he grew older, he never lost that boyish Mauldin grin, he never outgrew his excitement about doing his job, he never big-shotted or high-hatted the people with whom he worked every day.

I was lucky enough to be one of them; Mauldin roamed the hallways of the Chicago Sun-Times in the late 1960s and early 1970s with no more officiousness or air of haughtiness than if he was a copyboy. That impish look on his face remained.

He had achieved so much. He had won a second Pulitzer Prize, and he should have won a third, for what may be the single greatest editorial cartoon in the history of the craft: his deadline rendering, on the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, of the statue at the Lincoln Memorial slumped in grief, its head cradled in its hands. But he never acted as if he was better than the people he met. He was still Mauldin the enlisted man.

During the late summer of 2002, as Mauldin lay in that California nursing home, some of the old World War II infantry guys caught wind of it. They didn't want Mauldin to go out that way. They thought he should know that he was still their hero.

Gordon Dillow, a columnist for the Orange County Register, put out the call in Southern California for people in the area to send their best wishes to Mauldin; I joined Dillow in the effort, helping to spread the appeal nationally so that Bill would not feel so alone. Soon more than 10,000 letters and cards had arrived at Mauldin's bedside.

Even better than that, the old soldiers began to show up just to sit with Mauldin, to let him know that they were there for him, as he, long ago, had been there for them. So many volunteered to visit Bill that there was a waiting list. Here is how Todd DePastino, in the first paragraph of his wonderful biography of Mauldin, described it:

"Almost every day in the summer and fall of 2002 they came to Park Superior nursing home in Newport Beach , California , to honor Army Sergeant, Technician Third Grade, Bill Mauldin. They came bearing relics of their youth: medals, insignia, photographs, and carefully folded newspaper clippings. Some wore old garrison caps. Others arrived resplendent in uniforms over a half century old. Almost all of them wept as they filed down the corridor like pilgrims fulfilling some long-neglected obligation."

One of the veterans explained to me why it was so important:

"You would have to be part of a combat infantry unit to appreciate what moments of relief Bill gave us. You had to be reading a soaking wet Stars and Stripes in a water-filled foxhole and then see one of his cartoons."

Mauldin is buried in Arlington National Cemetery . This month, the kid cartoonist makes it onto a first-class postage stamp. It's an honor that most generals and admirals never receive.

What Mauldin would have loved most, I believe, is the sight of the two guys who are keeping him company on that stamp.

Take a look at it.

There's Willie. There's Joe.

And there, to the side, drawing them and smiling that shy, quietly observant smile, is Mauldin himself. With his buddies, right where he belongs. Forever.

Alien Implants Updated

Today In History:
On May 4th, 1933, the discovery of mysterious radio waves from the center of the Milky Way galaxy was described by Karl Jansky in a presentation he made to the International Radio Union.

More recently, a focus has been on Alien Implants as "Hard Evidence" of Al1en Abduction.
From Wikipedia, "Alien implants is a term used in Ufology to describe a physical object placed in someone's body after they have been abducted by aliens. Claimed abilities of the implants range from telepresence to mind control to biotelemetry (the latter akin to humans tagging wild animals for study). As with UFO subjects in general, the idea of "alien implants" has seen very little attention from mainstream scientists because of a lack of verifiable evidence."

Recently on Coast To Coast AM, "Dr. Roger Leir reported on his latest alien implant removal surgery, his 16th such operation. An X-ray revealed that a man in his 50's (who had a UFO encounter as a child) had a metallic foreign object in his wrist. The object removed was a cantaloupe-seed-shaped metal with a coating of biological matter-- similar in appearance to other implants he's removed. Dr. Leir also talked about a recent unusual aerial sighting he had in the Los Angeles area-- several black helicopters surrounded a metallic disc that suddenly disappeared"

There is a video of him presenting at a conference earlier.

DERREL SIMS-ALIEN HUNTER (HOUSTON, TEXAS)

Mr. Sims is a true pioneer in the investigation of the abduction phenomenon. His work, over more than 27 years, has resulted in the recovery (surgical or otherwise) of 11 alleged alien implants, an alleged artifact from the Roswell Crash, a wealth of remarkable knowledge as well as innovative procedures for the study of this phenomenon.

"Mr. Sims emphasizes the necessity of obtaining hard physical evidence and the analyzation of that evidence by non-UFO related scientific and medical professionals. It is his focus to bring credible findings to the scientific and medical communities for objective empirical scrutiny. Through the cooperative effort of scientists and medical professionals who compose his board of advisors, Mr. Sims is achieving what has never before been accomplished in this remarkable study".
