Yeti Affects Economy!

we are not alone with economic problems.A recent from Phantoms and Monsters..(Love that newsletter.)

"Siberian Locals Complain Yeti Eats Too Much

The local Shor people in Kemerovo Region, Siberia, are reporting that something is snatching up the wild leek crop that is a staple of their diet, Itar-Tass Siberia reports. The onion-lovers leave behind abundant large footprints with clearly defined toes, similar to the prints found in the area earlier this year, the news service continues.

Bigfoot sightings are common in this remote section of the taiga and they have received attention worldwide. An expedition headed by director of the International Center for Hominology Igor Burtsev visited the area at the end of March to study footprints found in Azasskaya Cave, but the effort resulted in little
new information.

Now local Tashtagol District administrator Vladimir Makuta notes that he has received 14 new written reports of yeti sightings near the cave and the nearby Mrassu River. The witnesses say the creature – thought by some to be a relict hominoid – is 1.5-2 meters (5-6.5 feet) tall and covered in reddish black fur."

Seeking Yeti

The Yeti was dubbed the Abominable Snowman in 1921 after an Everest expedition found large footprints at 21,000ft

The hunt for the elusive creature - said to be 10ft tall, part man, part ape and otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman - has frustrated scientists for decades.

Now tests at Oxford Brookes University on hairs said to be from a Yeti in India have failed to link the strands with any known species.

Ape expert Ian Redmond, who is leading the research, said: "The hairs are the most positive evidence yet that a Yeti might possibly exist.

"It may be that the region this animal is inhabiting is remote enough for it to remain undiscovered so far."

The two hairs - 33mm and 44mm long - were found in a jungle in the mountains of north-east India five years ago.

A forester claimed to seen a Yeti, known locally as mande barung or "forest man", two days in a row breaking branches off trees and eating their sap.

The recent return of the first expedition searching for Yeti in 2009 has come back with a few frightening stories. The hunt was supported by MonsterQuest, who filmed an episode of their Season Three during the investigative journey.

Senior producer Will Yates sYS that the team found themselves, indeed, on “a dangerous expedition out in Nepal. The trekking was much more difficult than they anticipated and at one point a crew member nearly slipped to his death. At the end of the expedition helicopters had to do an extraction off the mountain.”(From http://www.Cryptomungo.com)

"Team member Adam Davies (, author of Extreme Expeditions, concurrently makes this report, via a new email to me:

I’m recovered from my Nepal trip. Here is an update on the Yeti expedition.

I think the Nepal expedition will prove to be the most textured and interesting MQ to date, for viewers. Not just because of evidence gathered, but also because of the dangers the team had to face.

The Himalayas in winter are not to be taken lightly. In addition, the team ventured to one of the remotest areas on earth.

Even given the use of helicopters, we still had to trek for days afterwards to reach our final destination. In pursuit of evidence, myself and the crew, really did risk our lives on top of the mountains, which were both terrible and beautiful.
Adam continues,

On a cryptozoological note, one very exciting point is that the prints found by Mr.Yagihara’s team are definitely NOT a Langur monkey. Having travelled to the area (and you will hopefully see this explained in the television episode) there is no way a monkey would have been at this location. Thus, as far as I’m concerned, the previous footprints found remain “unidentifiable primate.”

The evidence is still being analysed.

All I can say at this stage is that I absolutely loved making the show, and it was very, very hard work. Luckily, I’m minus only one toenail, (rather than any other body parts) and that should grow back soon!!!

Cryptomundo was happy to receive word that the team members made it back, safe and sound, and we look forward to this program about the Abominable Snowmen.

Season Three of “MonsterQuest” kicks off with its season premiere Wednesday, February 4th at 8 pm Eastern/9 pm Central. Their show on Yeti evidence will be broadcast at a later date."

What About Yeti?

The scientific community has largely dismissed the possible existence of Yeti but it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology, the study of unconfirmed animals. However more scientists are now being convinced of the likely existence of the famous creature.
Wikipedia tells us:
"The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is an apelike cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet. The names Yeti and Meh-Teh are commonly used by the people indigenous to the region,[1] and are part of their history and mythology. Stories of the Yeti first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeti

The Himalaya Mountains, the highest range on Earth, have been referred to as the "roof of the world." If that is so, there is a mystery called the Yeti in our attic. In Tibetan the word means "magical creature" and truly it is a seemingly supernatural enigma in the shape of a hairy, biped creature that resembles a giant ape.

The Himalayas lie on the border between India, Nepal, and Tibet (now part of China). They are remote and forbidding. Large stretches around these rough valleys and peaks are uninhabited. The tallest mountain in the world, Everest, 29,028 feet high, lies half in Nepal, half in China. It is from Nepal, though, that most attempts to climb Everest, and the surrounding mountains, are made.
"The first reliable report of the Yeti appeared in 1925 when a Greek photographer, N. A. Tombazi, working as a member of a British geological expedition in the Himalayas, was shown a creature moving in the distance across some lower slopes. The creature was almost a thousand feet away in a narea with an altitude of around 15,000 feet.

"Unquestionably, the figure in outline was exactly like a human being, walking upright and stopping occasionally to uproot or pull at some dwarf rhododendron bushes," said Tombazi, "It showed up dark against the snow and, as far as I could make out wore no clothes." http://www.unmuseum.org/yeti.htm

The picture is a darling Yeti made by an Etsy Artist available in the shop http://eyebone.etsy.com

The fascination continues with Yeti. Will report on a recent expedetion in the Himalayas next...
