I hope you will visit and see the lovely work there. The Blue Royalty is pictured.

This is Eileen;s experience in her own words

" I am a Nurse, and have a few experiences,(with believing in ghosts) one being while I was sitting in a room with a man who was very close to death. I was holding his hand and speaking quietly to him, when he passed, I swear I saw his spirit leaving his body. It was very quick, and I was not frightened or anything, but I just knew that was what just happened."

A similar story has been reported by by many nurses or other Health Care workers as well as family members with the dying.Sometimes a mist appears and rises.Sometimes a familiar deceased family member or a religious figure, usually Jesus,is mentioned by the dying person.

A Motgue Attendant Must Have Nerves Of Steel

You have probably, as have I ,a different perception than a decade ago about those people who work with the dead.Heroic forensic pathologists and anthropologists are portrayed by several leading authors.Numerous popular TV programs have brought us to a First Name relationship with some with this training and function;
.Have you ever thought whether you could do that kind or any kind of work with the dead?I always thought no, even when I was dating a pathology resident and spent more time in the morgue than ordinarily anyone would.
Something happened in our area last year that made me sure that was the best decision.
A young man of around 20 was hit by a car while walking home.one midweek night.Thr driver who hit him was in a panic but called for help. The police and ambulance arrived within a few minutes. The usual hustle and bustle took place at the scene.A paramedic pronounced the young man dead.He was then taken directly to the morgue..
The attendant did all the photographs, undressed and XRayed the body. As he was applying the tag getting ready to put the young man in the cold storage area to await autopsy, the physician cane in.The attendant rolled the gurney back toward the table. At about the same time, both the attendant and the physician noticed the hand began to tremble then flex.
Turns out the young man was not dead.
He was rushed to the Emergency Room then admitted to the hospital.Hr died in three days without regaining consciousness
.There was quite an uproar about it.The family is taking legal action, the paramedic and his partner were fired, there was an internal investigation of the Policemen involved, the doctor was considered a hero and the poor morgue attendant just went back to work.
No,I have not heard of any appearences of ghosts in that morgue, but who knows?

Roberta Opens The Door

I do not want this to be misleading. It is not the door as a portal to the other side.Someone else did that.
Remember Uri Geller and the spoon bending or perhaps you have seen things flying about related to poltergeist which were discovered to be coming from the energy of the person herself/himself?
In general, movement of objects by the power of the mind or will power alone is considered to be psychokinesis(PK.)Uri did it by bending spoons. My psych nurse friend Roberta,I told you about before when she saw a classmate's new car(clairvoyance), after a few sessions at the lab developed her PK ability as well.
One day she whispered ( This type thing was not generally well accepted in our circles.)that she had opened her closet door that morning.I wanted a demonstration so we went after class to my apartment. There was a very thick two sided sliding door to the closet in the bed room.Either side could seldom be opened one handed.Roberta lay quietly on the bed for a few minutes saying before that she was centering, clearing her mind and then would concentrate.I am sitting quietly thinking "Yeah sure. That is way too heavy"
After about 8 to 10 minutes, one side of the door began to slowly slide. It picked up some speed and wham it was completely open.I was amazed. She did it.(In spite of encouragement however she was never able to mop or wash my dishes which would have been a welcome addition.)She did grow and expand the moving of objects. That demonstration was the heaviest thing she ever moved. The next time she told me of an accomplishment,I believed.

Good Advice From High School

Many years ago when TV was something of a novelty, and neighbors put up an antenna if they could not afford a set for their home I was in High School. The "thing" was to write in the School's yearbook.
There in mine among the pithy messages,a thousand versions of Roses Are Red,acclaims of friendship and undying love, was one of the best pieces of advice I ever got.I do not remember who wrote it but it was
"When in wonder,
When in doubt,
Run in circles
Scream and shout."
Love it even today...Running

Little Lost Boy

In the country of North Georgia many years ago,a woman named Gail Bell lived about a mile down the road from us.She was said to be "not right in the head."Gail had about 8 or 9 children. They followed her like little ducks as the family walked by on the way to the little town two miles up the hills.Between two hills below our house was a creek where we fished and swam. The bridge over it had a low rail but was sturdy.
We heard one summer weekday, that the youngest of Gail's boys was found drowned in the creek. It seems he had been there about a week but she had not missed him and had no idea that he had fallen in when crossing the bridge. We were sad and shocked.Poor little boy.His Mother did not even know he was gone.
The next time they passed by we heard a lot of yells from the bridge. It seems the children heard someone saying "Wait,Wait for me." as they turned, they saw the little boy climb from the water and take his place at the end of the line.Gail saw him too.We did not see him.
The children said he joined them every time they went by from then on and walked across the bridge with the family. No one else but some moonshiners who set up a still under the bridge ever saw him,but that is another story....

Birthmarks and Past Lives

Perhaps you have seen the psychic Sylvia Browne on television.I first saw her on Montel Williams and was impressed. She discusses Birthmarks and Past Lives in two of her books.
My beloved Grandmother who raised me had a floppy piece of extended skin on her throat. The belief in the mountains where we lived was that if the pregnant mother was scared badly the infant would have a birthmark representative of whatever scared her.It was said that Granny's mother "was scared by a chicken"Sylvia;s view would be different.I am not convinced that either is true, but find them interesting.
Sylvia began her focus on birthmarks ,she says, at the request of a neurologist friend who was studying the relationship between congenital illness and birthmarks. She was not especially interested at that time but did it as a favor to him.Surprising results came through her inquiries to clients.Several hundreds of clients in past life regressions revealed that a birthmark in the present life was related to a death injury in a past life. She reports that this was in 90% of the cases. The other 10% she says had resolved the matter in that lifetime and had no birthmark. The example was having been hung for stealing a horse which they had stolen as opposed to being hung if innocent of the accused crime.
Her first time of asking(Browne,Sylvia,Past Lives,Future Healing pages20-22) was to Billy, who came wanting to know who he knew in the present from past lives. That was not addressed as while in the trance he spoke only of one life that as an American Indian. In the early 1800's,at age 22 he died in battle from a knife wound in the right leg about two inches below the knee.He bled to death. She says the life was so brave, exciting and tragic she almost forgot to ask about a birthmark as he was leaving after the session. When she did ask,"he had only one, a purplish discoloration looking like an unhealed knife wound about two inches below his knee."From there she began to include this focus on birthmarks in all the Past Life Regressions.
What do you think? Do you have a birthmark?Hummm, was granny scared by a chicken, was it a bizarre experience in a past life or just some undifferientaed tissue ?

Help Spread The Word To Nurses

No story today but I would appreciate your help in spreading the word to other nurses about 2 things, and looking at my blurb which has had only 9 views. It actually describes in probably more detail than you want to know in getting the message out for my#1 quest.
1)I want to encourage nurses who craft to consider selling their creations,to enhance their positive self image. It is hard for nurses to think of themselves as Artists in most instances. If you would tell them about this,it would be nice.
http://www.squidoo.com/nursesnaturally

It is the one that has only 9 views.
2) Any supernatural experiences regarding ESP,hauntings, personal Near Death Experiences, etc. I would be interested in hearing about.Particularly but not limited to those work related.
Thank you very much.

Do You Believe In Near Death Experiences?

When Raymond Moody wrote the first book on Near Death Experiences many years ago, Near Death Experiences were brought to the attention of the public and the field of Medicine. It clarified for me many things described by people I had talked with about their experience when in a "coma"I was a believer and have been.
Not long ago there was a program on either Bio or the History Channel on the topic with several people telling of their personal NDE and two scientists more or less debunking the experience. The theory of the scientists was that these are natural responses to oxygen deprivation within the brain. They showed several CAT scans and a PET scan depicting brain activity in similar stressful situations which seemed to show that.Their idea is that there is not necessarily life after death and experiences such as NDE in no way signifies that there is.It simply,in their opinion,is hallucinatory responses within brain function.
Have you or someone you know had a NDE? Does a yes answer make you more likely to believe?Which gets to the main question"Do you believe in Near Death Experiences(NDE)?"

The Harlot And The Haunted Earrings

Some years ago when I was working on the admissions unit at Hawaii State Hospital the police brought in a 52 year old thin and scraggley looking woman. She was tall, dressed in bright but torn and frayed clothing, had long, limp and dirty graying hair with $100 bills tucked in all the garmets and body orifices. The total was around $10,000.(One of the nurses said "Well ladies maybe we are in the wrong profession" another replied also outside of the patient's hearing of course,"There certainly is hope for us yet.") Our new unknown patient also had two black eyes,a split lip and two broken ribs.
The police reported that she had some kind of "problem" with a group of Japanese tourists. They said she attacked one of them and injured him. They denied hurting her.She denied hurting the man and denied that the men had hurt her."It is the earrings"she said"They did it.Those===earrings.They are cursed.I just wanted him to take them back."
She would say nothing but that from the time they picked her up throughout the Emergency Room stay and the long ride to our Hospital. All that was known was that one of her admirers short of cash had earlier that evening given her a pair of Emerald earrings belonging to his wife's mother. She put them on but they kept coming off and reappearing on the floor or the table.
The honorable man kept returning them to her.As the evening progressed both got more and more agitated about the supposedly valuable earrings. She returned from the bathroom on one occasion with a black eye.She said it came from the earrings. Then, one said the bed began to shake and threw her to the floor causing more injury.Someone called the police and they found the man with scratches down both sides of his face bleeding and the woman on the floor looking as she did when we saw her.
The police picked them all up and took the injured to the ER at Queen's Hospital. As she "continued to rant and rave"she was sent to us for a 72 hour observation. The men were sent along their way.The earrings were kept as "evidence"
Nothing further was discovered about the incident. She never changed her story other than saying they were "haunted" instead of "cursed."
Following her discharge from the hospital,a policeman returned to check about the earrings,We did not have them nor had she had them with the belongings returned. It seems they were missing from the evidence locker.Want to bet they were on the way home to Japan to their rightful owner?

JJ Has An Unexpected Visitor

Long ago when I was a student nurse our university hospital system did not then have a suitable Pediatric setting so we went to NYC to Babies Hospital for "affiliation" for three months of study and clinical in Peds.
It was quite an experience for us young Southerners in that bustle and hustle. At that time there were no Intensive Care Units. On one floor a smaller section of three beds was used for that purpose.
In one of those beds was an 8 month little boy abandoned three months earlier by his family following post surgical problems which left him with a severe infection. He was needless to say,a favorite of all the nurses.Everyone tried to spend time holding him and rocking him when there was a spare moment. We knew he was dying but he was quite the little fighter and cuddled up at any chance. He had lived two months longer than expected.
For three mornings as things were becoming more and more grim, the night staff were quite excited. It seems a little woman who must have been his grandmother came in for two or so hours and held JJ, rocking and singing to him.We were so happy that he had a visitor.
Around noon that third day, my classmate rushed out to tell me that his visitor had come and was reading him a story.I was going in to speak to her to tell her how much we appreciated her being there for him. When we went in she looked up,smiled and disapearred. Not only had she vanished but JJ was back in his bed with his IV fluids
hooked back up on the bed,not the rocking chair.
No one believed us of course. The Doctor said we were "Little Southern Goodie Two Shoes wanting things to be better,so it was a good imagination." JJ died within the hour.An old worn Bible was in the rocking chair....

A Charleston Doctor Tells An Old Story

One of my favorite Psychiatrists who was the head of the service at the Medical School thought this was a great story."It is sort of about a hospital." he said
Army of the Dead
Retold by: S. E. Schlosser

A laundress, newly moved to Charleston following the Civil War, found herself awakened at the stroke of twelve each night by the rumble of heavy wheels passing in the street. But she lived on a dead end street, and had no explanation for the noise. Her husband would not allow her to look out the window when she heard the sounds, telling her to leave well enough alone. Finally, she asked the woman who washed at the tub next to hers. The woman said: "What you are hearing is the Army of the Dead. They are Confederate soldiers who died in hospital without knowing that the war was over. Each night, they rise from their graves and go to reinforce Lee in Virginia to strengthen the weakened Southern forces." The next night, the laundress slipped out of bed to watch the Army of the Dead pass. She stood spell-bound by the window as a gray fog rolled passed. Within the fog, she could see the shapes of horses, and could hear gruff human voices and the rumble of canons being dragged through the street, followed by the sound of marching feet. Foot soldiers, horsemen, ambulances, wagons and canons passed before her eyes, all shrouded in gray. After what seemed like hours, she heard a far off bugle blast, and then silence. When the laundress came out of her daze, she found one of her arms was paralyzed. She has never done a full days washing since

Just A Note

I am so computer incompetent it never ceases to be amazing. This is off the paranormal theme for sure but I have worked for HOURS just to put together a page on Squidoo. It is about personal style which I divided into four types: Classic,Artistic ,Romantic, and Geometric.
It lists hair, makeup, clothing and jewelry characteristic of each.Should be simple, right?Had picked some of my favorites from Etsy to illustrate each style.Other artists there who unlike me have excellent pictures as well. But I was never able to get the pictures up.I tried the HTML from the mini and that did not work nor the code given to get pictured from the web.It turns out to be a long all text thing which looks very boring. Two just not what I wanted pics that are not good examples from my things.Yech.
Anyway,I believe personal style is related to choices of jewelry among other things. If you would like to check it out and wade through to see what fits you,it is

Do You Believe This?

This is something for which I cannot reveal the source (because I have forgotten it.)I read this tidbit about ten years ago when reviewing some literature.I do not know whether I believe it or not.I thought it rather ghoulish at the time. However the very fact that at my age,I have remembered it this long shows it made an impact.
A physician was studying the weight of thr Human Soul so he weighed 60 people before and after death and found in 58 the "soul" weighed four and one half ounces....What do you think of this?

Is It Place Memory Or An Angry Ghost?

At a VA Hospital in the Deep South concrete barriers are erected at the Main Entrance after an angry Veteran drove through into the lobby when he was denied coverage for his PTSD symptoms. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)It was a terrible scene. He was killed and seven were injured. The news flashed around the country.
The hospital rule against smoking has led to many patients and visitors regularly gathering out front to have a cigarette. On several occasions the lobby is filled with screaming and yelling folks, some well dressed, some in pajamas, many in wheelchairs or pushing IV poles around. They all claim to have looked up after hearing an engine rev and to have seen a car speeding furiously toward them.
What do you think?

The Radiologist Visits

Some years ago at UVA we had a handsome radiology resident in his last three months in the program. He was well known driving around the party circuit in his red sports car with one woman or another
.He had begun to have several headaches which as so many of the Medical Profession do,he ignored. He began to worry when blurred vision developed but still did not have it checked. One evening on call he passed out during a procedure .He was rushed to the ER then admitted.Turns out he has a tumor which if removed would leave him blind( assuming all could be removed.)
There was a blind Psychiatrist on the faculty several of us mentioned to him and the psychiatrist went to see him. but that offered him little support.Radiology was his life.
After about six weeks, he drove his car into a tree and was killed. He was greatly missed.
Some month later, someone walking in the hall at night ,when hardly any staff were there, could be heard No one saw anyone.Around noon a week later when the department was quite busy, file drawers started opening and closing.Soon the night staff began to see him walking down the hall carrying what seemed a record and entering the last room he had used. This became a regular happening.A few times the day shift saw him also. After six months the sightings and noises stopped. We would like to think he had crossed over.I have heard though that on the anniversary of his diagnosis, not death,he reappears. Such a sad thing.

"Do you knit?"

Thought it might be time to catch up.I have been ery busy with making wood watches and incorporating ceramic animal beads in my jewelry.Found some darling ones at Animal Hut.
My newest addition however comes from a ghostly encounter,a dream,a talent that I do not have, and some new glass beads. If you wish to see it, way down on this page is the picture. It is the first picture ever for this blog.I have so much to learn...
The dream was of my great great grandmother Lowry who Mother said visited her once as she rocked a screaming me in the chair where three generations rocked their babies.
Mother was quite tired and flustered .As Grandmother Lowry came to appear at her side she was frightened, however she felt a light touch on her forehead and immediately felt peaceful and relaxed. That is one of only two paranormal experiences which Mother had.
In my dream mother was knitting.Grandmother said in the dream,"Treasure this child."A nice dream.I never knew Grandmother Lowry although I did inherit her Cameo.I never felt treasured by my Mother which would have been something longed for one may guess, all these years.
My cousin called the next day and told me his wife had a mysterious experience the night before. She was up later than usual and thought she heard a rocker in their youngest daughter's room. The daughter has been away for several years in Dental School. There is a rocking chair in that room as well as one jn the room where his wife sat.She went to check on the sound and saw an old lady sitting in the chair with a shawl around her shoulders while she was busily knitting. The lady said to tell Suzanne she is treasured and the beads are fine....
I had just finished the necklace. For some reason,I wanted those beads . I do not knit but had the idea for the design for some time and went ahead and did it.I like it and it seems Grandmother Lowry does too.Why she told Joyce and not me,is a mystery.Curious isn't it.
Not all, in fact until now none of my pieces has a colorful history. This did not go in the description.
